Mount Horeb is a village in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,754 at the time of the 2020 census. It is part of the Madison metropolitan area.
William D. "Bill" Dyke was an American lawyer, judge, and politician. He was the 49th mayor of Madison, Wisconsin, from 1969 to 1973, and ran for Vice President of the United States on the American Independent Party ticket with presidential candidate Lester Maddox in the 1976 presidential election. He was also the Republican nominee for Governor of Wisconsin in the 1974 gubernatorial election. From 1996 until two months before his death, in 2016, he served as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Iowa County, Wisconsin; he was chief judge of the 7th Judicial Administrative District from 2007 to 2013.

The Stockton schoolyard shooting was an act of mass murder which occurred at Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California, on January 17, 1989. The perpetrator, 24-year-old Patrick Purdy, shot and killed five children and wounded thirty-one others — all but one of them children — before committing suicide with a single pistol shot to the head approximately three minutes after first opening fire.
The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH) is a professional school for the study of medicine and public health at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. It is one of only two medical schools in Wisconsin, along with the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and the only public one.
Dwight Alan Armstrong was an American anti-Vietnam War activist who helped use a truck bomb to shatter Sterling Hall, a centrally located building on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus, on August 24, 1970. Armstrong and three others targeted an army mathematical research center on an upper floor. They considered the University complicit in military research that enabled aggression. The bomb gutted the building, killing one person and injuring three. Armstrong spent several years on the run before being imprisoned.
The Westside Middle School shooting was a mass shooting that occurred on March 24, 1998, at Westside Middle School in unincorporated Craighead County, Arkansas near the city of Jonesboro. 13-year-old Mitchell Johnson and 11-year-old Andrew Golden opened fire on the school, shooting and killing five people with multiple weapons, and both were arrested when they attempted to flee the scene. Ten others were wounded. Golden and Johnson were convicted of five murders and ten assaults, and were imprisoned until each turned 21 years of age. After the 1992 Lindhurst High School shooting that killed four people in Olivehurst, California, the massacre was the deadliest non-college school shooting in contemporary U.S. history until the April 1999 Columbine High School massacre. As of 2024, the incident is the deadliest mass shooting at a middle school in U.S. history.
Abundant Life Christian School (ALCS) in Madison, Wisconsin, United States, is a private Christian school. It is one of the largest non-sectarian private schools in the Madison area. ALCS was founded by Lake City Church in 1978 under the leadership of Pastor Warren Heckman. ALCS was established to be a community Christian school and welcomes families from a variety of churches. ALCS is a K–12 school which shares its 28-acre (110,000 m2) campus with City Church and Campus for Kids, an infant to pre-kindergarten child care center. While the three ministries are closely related, the students and staff represent over 50 churches, and many neighborhoods in Madison and its surrounding communities.
The killing of Tony Terrell Robinson Jr. occurred on March 6, 2015, in Madison, Wisconsin. Robinson, an unarmed 19-year-old man, was fatally shot by Madison police officer Matthew Kenny during a "check-person" call. Kenny was responding to dispatch reports that Robinson was jumping in front of cars and acting erratically, and that he had harmed someone in an apartment. On May 12, 2015, the shooting was determined to be justified self-defense by the Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne. The death was protested by the Black Lives Matter movement; Robinson was biracial, with a black father and a white mother.
Clarence Selmer Gonstead was an American chiropractor. He created the Gonstead technique. He established a large chiropractic facility in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.
Law, Law & Potter was an architecture firm in Madison, Wisconsin; Potter Lawson, Inc. is its modern-day successor. Some of its buildings are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places for their architecture. The firm was Madison's largest and "arguably most important" architectural firm in the 1920s and 1930s.
On November 13–14, 2017, a series of shootings occurred in Rancho Tehama, an unincorporated community in Tehama County, California, U.S. The gunman, 44-year-old Kevin Janson Neal, died by suicide after a Corning police officer rammed and stopped his stolen vehicle. During the shooting spree, five people were killed and eighteen others were injured at eight separate crime scenes, including an elementary school. Ten people suffered bullet wounds and eight were cut by flying glass caused by the gunfire. The injured victims were transported to several area clinics and hospitals.
Shelia Renee Stubbs is an American pastor, former probation and parole agent, and Democratic politician from Madison, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the south side of the city of Madison since 2019. She is Dane County's first African American representative in the Wisconsin Legislature. She also previously served 16 years as a member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors (2006–2022), and was the only African American member from 2006 to 2020.
The Poway synagogue shooting occurred on April 27, 2019, at Chabad of Poway synagogue in Poway, California, United States, a city which borders the north inland side of San Diego, on the last day of the Jewish Passover holiday, which fell on a Shabbat. Armed with an AR-15–style rifle, the gunman, John Earnest, fatally shot one woman and injured three other people, including the synagogue's rabbi. After fleeing the scene, Earnest phoned 9-1-1 and reported the shooting. He was apprehended in his car approximately two miles (3.2 km) from the synagogue by a San Diego police officer. A month before the shooting, Earnest had attempted to burn down a mosque in Escondido.
In the aftermath of the August 2020 police shooting of Jacob Blake, protests, riots, and civil unrest occurred in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and around the United States as part of the larger United States racial unrest and Black Lives Matter movements. In addition to street protests, marches, and demonstrations, the shooting also led to the 2020 American athlete boycotts.
Michael Andrew "Mike" Bare is an American policy analyst and Democratic politician from Verona, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Wisconsin's 80th Assembly district since January 2023. He is also currently a member of the Dane County board of supervisors and previously served as a legislative aide to United States senator Russ Feingold.

Three people, including the perpetrator, identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, have been confirmed dead, with six reportedly injured. According to CNN, the shooting is at least the 83rd school shooting in the US in 2024.
