The Armoured Multirole Carrier (AMC) is an eight-wheeled armoured personnel carrier designed by Renault Trucks Défense, part of Renault Trucks. A concept model was put on display for the first time at Eurosatory 2008. It is one of the contenders to replace the VAB, also made by Renault, around 2020, as part of "Project Scorpion", a large-scale military modernization programme. [1]

They are sometimes referred to colloquially as 'battle taxis' or 'battle buses'. Since World War I, APCs have become a very common piece of military equipment around the world.

Renault Trucks is a French commercial truck and military vehicle manufacturer with corporate headquarters at Saint-Priest near Lyon. Originally part of Renault, it has been owned by the Volvo Group, a Swedish multinational manufacturing company, since 2001.

Eurosatory is an international Defence and Security industry trade fair that is held every two years in the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, Paris, France. In 2016 it gathered over 1,500 exhibitors and over 55,700 visitors. It is organized by COGES in partnership with the French Ministry of Defense.

The AMC is a high-mobility medium armoured vehicle. A wide range of different models is planned, including six-wheel drive variants. [2]

Six-wheel drive is an all-wheel drive drivetrain configuration of three axles with at least two wheels on each axle capable of being driven simultaneously by the vehicle's engine. Unlike four-wheel drive drivetrains, the configuration is largely confined to heavy-duty off-road and military vehicles, such as all-terrain vehicles, armored vehicles, and prime movers.

Known for their reliability, simplicity, ruggedness and their 80% commonality of parts across the entire product line, these vehicles were originally targeted at African and Asian countries who could not afford more expensive vehicles. The ACMAT company built their vehicles based on standardisation, commonality of parts and components, and on interchangeability; parts are interchangeable with vehicles built 30 years ago. Parts commonality includes cabs, structural components, engines and drive trains. ACMAT uses many of the same parts for all of its line of vehicles. They even produce an armoured variant of both the 4x4 and 6x6 versions of the VLRA.

The Sherpa Light Scout is one of the six versions of the SHERPA LIGHT family of 4x4 tactical and light armoured vehicles developed by French company Renault Trucks Defense. Available in unarmoured or armoured variants, the Scout is ideally suited for tactical missions such as scouting, patrol, convoy escort and command and liaison. It is able to transport up to 4 or 5 soldiers or a total payload of up to 4 tonnes.

Berliet VXB-170

The Berliet VXB-170 is a four-wheel armoured vehicle used primarily as an Internal security vehicle. Developed and initially produced by Berliet until Berliet was merged with Saviem to form Renault Trucks, it lost to the Saviem VAB the competition to equip the French Army, even though it was cheaper than its competitor. Production stopped after less than 200 vehicles had been produced.

Anoa (armoured personnel carrier) Indonesian 6x6 APC

The Anoa is a 6x6 armoured personnel carrier developed by PT Pindad of Indonesia. The vehicle is named after the Anoa, which is a type of buffalo indigenous to Indonesia. The prototype was first unveiled at the 61st anniversary of TNI on October 5, 2006 in TNI HQ at Cilangkap, east of capital Jakarta. The Anoa resembles the French VAB, which is also in service with Indonesia.

ATOM (IFV)

The ATOM is a heavy 8×8 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) jointly developed by the Russian company Petrel and the French company Renault Trucks. The vehicle is established on the basis of the French Véhicule blindé de combat d'infanterie (VBCI) IFV which is produced by Renault. The prototype of the ATOM was first unveiled during the 2013 Russian Arms Expo at Nizhny Tagil, equipped with a unique fighting module.

The KW1 Scorpion wheeled armoured personnel carrier is family of 6×6 and 8×8 armored vehicles. Developed by Hyundai Rotem company as private venture in 2012, the Republic of Korea Army declared a plan to acquire 600 6×6 and 8×8 wheeled APCs in order to help build rapid response forces molded after U.S. Stryker combat brigades, according to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). The Hyundai Rotem company made the KW1 Scorpion in competition with the Doosan Black Fox and Samsung Techwin MPV, and eventually won the competition.

VBMR Griffon

The VBMR Griffon is a French multi-role armored vehicle that will replace the French Army's VAB armored personnel carrier.

The EBRC Jaguar is a French armored reconnaissance and combat vehicle that will replace the French Army's VCAC, AMX 10 RC and ERC 90 Sagaie reconnaissance and fire support vehicles.
