The Feather River is the principal tributary of the Sacramento River, in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California. The river's main stem is about 73 miles (117 km) long. Its length to its most distant headwater tributary is just over 210 miles (340 km). The main stem Feather River begins in Lake Oroville, where its four long tributary forks join—the South Fork, Middle Fork, North Fork, and West Branch Feather Rivers. These and other tributaries drain part of the northern Sierra Nevada, and the extreme southern Cascades, as well as a small portion of the Sacramento Valley. The total drainage basin is about 6,200 square miles (16,000 km2), with approximately 3,604 square miles (9,330 km2) above Lake Oroville.

Brush Creek is an unincorporated community near Oroville in Butte County, California, United States. It lies at the east end of State Route 162, just beyond the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area. It lies at an elevation of 3,540 feet. A post office operated at Brush Creek from 1856 until 1916, having moved once in 1902.

Enterprise is a former settlement in Butte County, California. It was located 5 miles (8.0 km) west-northwest of Forbestown on the South Fork of the Feather River, at an elevation of 902 feet. In 1968, it was inundated by Lake Oroville.

Liwaito is a former settlement of the Patwin branch of the Wintun tribe in Yolo County, California. The name means "waiving" in the Patwin language, and was also applied to Putah Creek. It lay at an elevation of 135 feet. Its location is quite near Winters, California.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Peeler Lake</span> Lake in the state of California, United States

Peeler Lake is a California landform within the Toiyabe National Forest and on the west edge of the Hoover Wilderness. One of the few bodies of water on the Great Basin Divide, Peeler Lake's inflow is sufficient for outlet streams over 2 Sierra Crest sills of similar elevation to respectively drain westward to the Pacific Ocean and eastward into the Great Basin. Peeler Lake's saddle area is a mountain pass between the west Sierra slope and the Sierra Escarpment to the east, and the lake level of 9,488 ft (2,892 m) is over 1,000 ft (300 m) below the summits of Cirque Mountain (north) and Crown Point (south). The namesake Peeler Lake Trail of 1.5 mi (2.4 km) from the east reaches the lake from the Robinson Creek Trailhead parking at the west side of Twin Lakes, and the Bridgeport Ranger Station issues overnight permits for the backcountry area of the lake.

Oscura Mountains, originally known to the Spanish as the Sierra Oscura, are a ridge of mountains, trending north and south, east of the Jornada del Muerto and west of the Tularosa Valley. The word oscura means "dark" and refers to the dark color of the mountains due to the Pinyon-juniper vegetation at their higher elevations. The Oscuras are located in Socorro County and Lincoln County, New Mexico. Their southern end is at 33°30′30″N106°18′45″W and their northern end is at 33°49′15″N106°22′20″W near North Oscura Peak. Their highest elevation is Oscura Peak at 8,625 feet.
