Chaudhary Ajit Singh was an Indian farmer leader and politician. He was the founder and chief of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, a political party recognised in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was son of the former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh. He tested positive for COVID-19 and was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Gurugram. In addition to the major national parties, other national and regional parties such as Shiromani Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal Secular, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Kerala Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Indian Union Muslim League, AIMIM, and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families, mostly those of the party founders.

Balwant Singh Ramoowalia is an Indian politician from Samajwadi Party. His father Karnail Singh Paras was a well-known Kavishar. Balwant Singh started his political career with student politics as a general secretary of Student Federation of India in 1963. He went on to join All India Sikh Students' Federation and was its president from 1968 to 1972. Later he joined Akali Dal and became Member of Parliament twice from Faridkot and Sangrur. Ajit Singh Saini (1922–2007) was an eminent and critically acclaimed writer of Punjab (India). He was associated with the Punjabi daily "Ajit" as its managing editor and columnist. He is remembered in Punjab both as a freedom-fighter and an acclaimed writer and columnist. He was an officer in Indian National Army (INA) and a close lieutenant of Subhas Chandra Bose. Saini worked with the wire service of INA and Arzi Hukumat-e-Azad Hind or Provisional Government of Free India, more simply, Indian government in exile.
Sadhu Singh Hamdard (1918–1984) was an Indian freedom fighter and journalist, excelling in both Urdu and Punjabi and an innovative poet, who carried in his name the pseudonym 'Hamdard', "sharing with all the pangs of their hearts," "friendly towards all."
Ajit(Daily Ajit) is a Punjabi language daily newspaper published in Jalandhar, India. The newspaper is run by Sadhu Singh Hamdard Trust. The newspaper was founded in 1941 in Urdu language. Veteran journalist and ex-Rajya Sabha member, Barjinder Singh Hamdard, is the current editor-in-chief. In 2007–08, it claimed a circulation of more than 333 thousand.

Nawan Zamana is an Indian Punjabi language daily newspaper owned by the Arjan Singh Gargaj Foundation, published in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. After partition, Communist Party of India brought out its Urdu weekly Naya Zamana from Jalandhar in 1952. The CPI converted Naya Zamana into the Punjabi daily, Nawan Zamana, as Urdu was losing its readership after partition. Jagjit Singh Anand, a former member of Rajya Sabha, was its Chief Editor for 50 years until his death in June 2015. Its online edition was launched in 2007.

Sardar Niranjan Singh Talib (1901–1976), was a journalist, an independence activist, revolutionary and influential leader of Indian National Congress leader and also served as Punjab Pradesh Congress Chief. He was a noted Gandhian and joined the Non-cooperation movement on call of Mahatma Gandhi in 1920. He was editor of nationalist daily Punjabi newspaper Desh Darpan, which was once published from Calcutta. Further, he was also a close associate of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and at one point of time associated closely with All India Forward Bloc as many sources claim, he drove the car, in which Netaji escaped from his house arrest in Calcutta. Before independence, he spent around 10 years in total in various jails in British India. Earlier he served as personal aide of Maharaja of Nabha, Ripudaman Singh, till the King was deposed. After independence served as Minister in Punjab Government as Public Works Department minister and also Head of Capital Project, Public Health, Engineering and Housing, which founded Chandigarh as newly developed capital city. In 1962 he won election from Chandigarh, as a Congress party candidate. He served as member of Rajya Sabha from Punjab for the years 1974 till his death in 1976.

Jagjit Singh Dardi is an Indian journalist and an educationist from Punjab. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Punjabi language daily newspaper Chardikala, a newspaper that was started in 1977. In 1970 Dardi started a fortnightly Charhdikala Marg, whose Founder Editor was his father G Harnam Singh. This fortnightly paper was converted into a daily newspaper in 1977. He is the Chairman of the Punjabi news channel Chardilkala Time TV. He is also the Chairman of Sri Guru Harkrishan Group of Institutes, a chain of higher education institutes. He was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2022 for his services in national integration, communal harmony, contributions in the field of media, education and promotion of Punjabi language, culture and heritage.In 2022, Department of Public Relations Chandigarh administration announced Dardi as a Chairperson of the Chandigarh Press Accreditation Committee. Punjabi Media house Nirpakh Post and published a biography of Dardi.
