Laud holds Master of Surgery (orthopaedics) from University of Bombay. He is the former professor and head, department of orthopaedic surgery and traumatology and chief of trauma service at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai. He is currently associated with Laud Clinic, Shushrusha Citizens' Co-operative Hospital and Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai.[ citation needed ]

Kandarp Tuljashanker Dholakia (1920-2004) was an Indian orthopedic surgeon and one of the pioneers of joint replacement surgery in India. Born in Rajkot in the state of Gujarat on 12 August 1920, Dholakia was the president of Indian Orthopaedic Association and the Association of Surgeons of India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1973. He died on 17 June 2004, at the age of 83.

Lakhumal Hiranand Hiranandani (1917–2013) was an Indian otorhinolaryngologist, social activist and philanthropist, known for pioneering several surgical procedures which later came to be known as Dr. Hiranandani's Operations. He was the founder chairman of Hiranandani Foundation Trust which runs two schools in India and was reported to have been active in the social movement against organ trade in India. He was a recipient of the Golden Award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, the first Indian and the fifth overall to receive the honour. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1972, for his contributions to medicine and society.

He has also held free camps in various other suburbs of Mumbai such as Mankhurd and Govandi to treat the economically poor. In 2016, he also held a camp in Kashmir to operate and cure the victims of pellet gun firings.

Roy Award by Medical Council of India, The Government of India, in recognition of his contributions to the field of medicine and public health honored him with the Padma Shri (1985) one of India's highest civilian awards in India.
