Collagen alpha-1(IX) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL9A1 gene. [5] [6]
This gene encodes one of the three alpha chains of type IX collagen, a collagen component of hyaline cartilage. Type IX collagen is usually found in tissues containing type II collagen, a fibrillar collagen. Studies in knockout mice have shown that synthesis of the alpha 1 chain is essential for assembly of type IX collagen molecules, a heterotrimeric molecule, and that lack of type IX collagen is associated with early onset osteoarthritis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with multiple epiphyseal dysplasia. Two transcript variants have been identified for this gene. [6]
Collagen alpha-2(XI) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL11A2 gene.
Collagen alpha-1 (XXVII) chain (COL27A1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL27A1 gene.
Fairbank's disease or multiple epiphyseal dysplasia (MED) is a rare genetic disorder that affects the growing ends of bones. Long bones normally elongate by expansion of cartilage in the growth plate near their ends. As it expands outward from the growth plate, the cartilage mineralizes and hardens to become bone (ossification). In MED, this process is defective.
Collagen alpha-2(V) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL5A2 gene.
Cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), also known as thrombospondin-5, is an extracellular matrix (ECM) protein primarily present in cartilage. In humans it is encoded by the COMP gene.
Collagen alpha-5(IV) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL4A5 gene.
Collagen alpha-1(XVIII) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL18A1 gene.
Collagen alpha-2(IV) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL4A2 gene.
Collagen alpha-1(X) chain is a protein that in humans is a member of the collagen family encoded by the COL10A1 gene.
Collagen alpha-6(IV) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL4A6 gene.
Collagen alpha-2(VI) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL6A2 gene.
Collagen alpha-1(XI) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL11A1 gene.
Collagen alpha-2(IX) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL9A2 gene.
Collagen alpha-3(IX) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL9A3 gene.
Collagen alpha-2(VIII) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL8A2 gene. Mutations of the gene are linked to posterior polymorphous dystrophy type 2.
Collagen alpha-1(VIII) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL8A1 gene.
Collagen alpha-1(XIX) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL19A1 gene.
Prolyl 4-hydroxylase subunit alpha-2 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the P4HA2 gene.
Collagen alpha-1(XXVI) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EMID2 gene.
Integrin alpha-10 also known as ITGA10 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ITGA10 gene.
