Columbiana Centre is an indoor super-regional shopping mall located off Interstate 26/U.S. Route 76 on Harbison Boulevard in Columbia, South Carolina that opened in 1990. It is the dominant shopping center in the Columbia Metropolitan Area. Most of the mall's territory is located in Lexington County, although portions of the mall extend into Richland County. The regional mall has 788,103 square feet (73,217.2 m2) of retail space. Its anchors include two Belk stores, Dillard's, and JCPenney. The Men's Belk opened in early 2015 in the former Sears which closed in 2014. [2]
Columbiana Centre, developed by Homart Development Company, opened in 1990 with two anchor stores: Belk and Sears. [3] Dillard's was added as the third anchor in 1993, as was a new wing extending diagonally north. [3] In 1995, J. B. White was added as another anchor. [3] In 1998, JB White was acquired by Dillard's and the JB White location in the mall was closed. Belk took over the former JB White space and Parisian came to the mall in the former Belk space. [3] In 2005, Parisian closed and JCPenney took over the former Parisian space. [3] The next major anchor change was brought about by the closure of Sears in March 2014. [4] In 2015, Belk Men's Store was expanded into the former Sears space, adding 50,000 square feet of space for Belk and making it one of Belk's flagship stores. [1]
On February 13, 2017, a Dave and Buster's store opened in the front exterior side of the mall, filling the space vacated by Sears not already filled by the Men's Belk. In March 2018, Forever 21’s Riley Rose cosmetics store opened at the mall. [5]
A mass shooting occurred at the mall on the afternoon of April 16, 2022. Fifteen people ranging from 15 to 73 years old were hurt during the incident, nine of which were from gunshot wounds. Three people have since been arrested and are facing multiple charges ranging from unlawful use of a firearm to attempted murder. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] On July 19, 2022, two anonymous sisters, who were victims of the shooting, filed a lawsuit against the Columbiana Mall for "negligence, gross negligence, and recklessness for failing to provide adequate safety or protection to tenants and shoppers." The sisters are seeking $20 million in the lawsuit against the shopping mall. [11]

Citadel Mall is a regional 1,138,527 square feet (105,773 m2) shopping mall located in Charleston, South Carolina, United States. It opened on July 29, 1981 and is located at the intersection of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and I-526. The mall features more than 100 stores. On September 1, 2013 the mall went into foreclosure after then owner CBL & Associates Properties defaulted on mortgage payments, and it was purchased at auction by the lender in January 2014. After the auction, the mall was placed under the ownership of a holding company formed by the lender, 2070 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard Holdings LLC and as of January 2017 was under contract to be sold to an undisclosed buyer. The anchor stores are Target, Belk, Dillard's, Mixed Bag Productions, and Medical University of South Carolina.
Madison Square Mall was a shopping mall in Huntsville, Alabama, United States. The largest in the city, it encompassed over 929,993 sq ft (86,399.2 m2). Richland Mall was an enclosed shopping mall near the intersection of Forest Drive and Beltline Blvd in Forest Acres, South Carolina within the greater Columbia Metropolitan Area. The interior mall space has been closed to the public since early 2022. However, its last anchor store, Belk, continued to operate until early September 2023. A Barnes & Noble continued to operate as a junior anchor with its own exterior access until December 31, 2023. There are two additional empty anchor stores that have both been largely vacant since the late 2000s. The mall's last inline tenant, Columbia Children's Theatre, moved out on February 1, 2023. The mall has never received a major renovation and has an ornate late 1980s-early 1990s interior aesthetic.
West Town Mall is a shopping mall located in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. Opened in August 1972, this one-level mall is located in the western portion of Knoxville in the West Hills community. West Town Mall is located along Interstates 40/75 and Kingston Pike. The mall has 1,339,000 square feet (124,397 m2) of gross leasable area, making it the largest of any enclosed shopping mall in Tennessee. Independence Mall is the only enclosed shopping mall in Wilmington, North Carolina. It opened in 1979 with anchor stores Belk-Beery, JCPenney, and Sears. A later expansion added a new wing and Dillard's store to the center after Westfield Group purchased the mall. The mall is located on Oleander Drive and Independence Blvd east of downtown Wilmington. The mall has a food court and no longer features a carousel.
