Staten Island Mall is a shopping mall in New Springville, Staten Island, New York City, opened in 1973. It is the only indoor shopping mall in the borough. [1] It is the largest retail center on the island and is the site of the island's third-largest public transit hub after the St. George Terminal and Eltingville Transit Center, with numerous bus routes that connect to the periphery of the mall area. It is the second largest shopping center in New York City. The mall features Primark, JCPenney, and Macy's, in addition to an 11-screen dine-in AMC Theatres.
The mall is owned by Brookfield Properties of Chicago, Illinois, itself a division of Brookfield Asset Management, whose U.S. operations are based in Manhattan. The mall has 200 stores employing approximately 3,000 people. Anchor tenants include JCPenney, Macy's, Lidl, and Primark. The Food District also has anchors of Dave and Buster's and an AMC Theatres dine-in cinema. A carnival by Reithoffer Shows was held from 1998 through 2018, bringing rides, games, and food stands into the parking lots of the mall. Amusements of America took the place of Reithoffer starting in 2019. The mall also has a strip mall called The Crossing, which features multiple shops and a restaurants.
Prior to the construction of the mall, the land was occupied by the Staten Island Airport, which opened in 1941. The site was sold in 1955 with a shopping and amusement center envisaged, known as the Staten Island Center. In 1964 it was announced that Macy's and Abraham & Straus (A&S) would open stores across from E. J. Korvette. [2] Construction of the mall commenced in 1970 and it opened on August 9, 1973, [3] with Macy's and Sears. The A&S store was not built on the property as announced years earlier. The shopping center was developed by Feist and Feist Realty Corp. and sold to the Rouse Company in 1980. Rouse remodeled the mall by removing the small shops in the center court known as the "Honeycomb", adding escalators to the original six, and installing additional trees and several new fountains throughout the mall.
The mall was renovated and expanded in 1993 when the JCPenney wing was completed. JCPenney relocated to the mall from its longtime occupancy at the Forest Avenue Shoppers Town. The mall was originally a two-story building shaped like a letter "T", with a large outdoor plaza on the Richmond Avenue side, gross leasable area (GLA) of 1,274,000 square feet (118,400 m2) [4] and a tenant GLA of 622,000 square feet (57,800 m2).
By the mid-2010, higher-end shops such as Michael Kors, Pandora, and Armani Exchange opened for business, and by 2011, numerous new brands (Adidas, Love Culture, etc.) were relocating or updating their looks while new tenants continued to revive the mall's image.
The mall was expanded by 242,000 square feet [5] between 2016 and 2019, which included the addition of a new retailers including Zara, Ulta Beauty, Dave & Buster's, Barnes & Noble, Lidl, and AMC Theatres. The food court was moved from its former area into the newly expanded area in the mall, renamed the "Food District". [6] On March 15, 2017, Primark opened one of its first American locations. Sears closed, but The Container Store opened on an out parcel. [7]
By 2023, Staten Island Mall had announced several newest additions, among them are Newbury Comics, Miniso, Charlotte Russe, Sugar Bear, Hobby Lobby, and Rainbow. [8] On April 2024, Uniqlo, a Japanese retailer and manufacturer, announced that it would reopen in Staten Island after 10 years. [9]
A Krispy Kreme outparcel near the mall's main entrance, the first Krispy Kreme on the island was opened in 2022.
Several local, select and express New York City Transit Authority buses stop and either travel through or on the perimeter (where park and ride facilities exist) of the mall's campus. They include the S44 , S94 , S59 , S89 , S61 and S91 local buses/limited counterparts, the S55 and S56 buses with no corresponding limited buses, the S79 Select Bus Service route, and the SIM4 , SIM4C , SIM4X , SIM8 , SIM8X and SIM31 express buses. Aventura Mall is a shopping mall located in Aventura, Florida. It is the fourth-largest mall in the United States by total square feet of retail space and the largest mall in Florida. The mall features JCPenney, Macy's, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale's, in addition to a 24-screen AMC Theatres.
King of Prussia, also referred to as King of Prussia Mall, is a shopping mall located in the community of King of Prussia in Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania. It is the largest shopping mall in Pennsylvania and the third-largest shopping mall in the United States in terms of gross leasable area. It is an upscale mall with 450 retailers.
Queens Center Mall is an urban shopping mall in Elmhurst, Queens, New York City, on Queens Boulevard between 57th Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard. Queens Center Mall is the largest mall in Queens. It is currently owned and managed by The Macerich Company, who purchased the mall in the 1990s. The mall features Primark, JCPenney and Macy's.
Newport Centre, commonly known as Newport Mall, is a shopping mall in Jersey City, New Jersey, that opened in 1987. It is a major component of the enormous Newport, Jersey City, a mixed-use community on the Hudson River waterfront across from Lower Manhattan. One of eleven shopping malls in New Jersey managed by Simon Property Group, it is located at 30 Mall Drive West, and is bound by Henderson Street on the west, Mall Drive East on the east, 6th Street on the south, and Newport Parkway on the north. The mall has a gross leasable area of 1,152,599 sq ft (107,080 m2). The super-regional mall is the first of its size in Hudson County. The anchor stores are AMC Theatres, JCPenney, Macy's, and Kohl's.
Woodfield Mall is a shopping mall located in the northwest Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois, United States, near the interchange of Golf Road and Interstate 290. The mall is the largest shopping mall in the state of Illinois, the second largest being Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook. It is also one of the largest shopping malls in the United States. The Dover Mall is a shopping mall located on U.S. Route 13 in Dover, Delaware. The anchor stores are Boscov's, Old Navy, Dick's Sporting Goods, and JCPenney. Smith Haven Mall is a shopping mall located in Lake Grove, New York, and is the main mall for the "Middle Island" area of Long Island. It is also the easternmost enclosed mall on Long Island, and thus draws shoppers from the communities that make up the Hamptons, and the North Fork. Freehold Raceway Mall is a super-regional shopping mall located in Freehold Township, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of 2020, it was the largest shopping mall in Central Jersey and the state's third largest shopping mall, behind Garden State Plaza in Paramus, and American Dream Meadowlands in East Rutherford. It is located off of U.S. Route 9, Route 33 Business, and County Route 537, opposite the Freehold Raceway.
Arden Fair is a two-level regional shopping mall located on Arden Way in Sacramento, California, United States. It consists of over 150 tenants, encompassing over 1,100,000 square feet (100,000 m2) of retail space. The mall features the traditional retailers Macy's and JCPenney as anchor stores. It is locally owned by Fulcrum Property and operated by Centennial Real Estate Company.
Hawthorn Mall, formerly Westfield Hawthorn, is a shopping mall in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Fox Valley Mall, formerly Westfield Fox Valley and Fox Valley Center, is a shopping mall in Aurora, Illinois. The mall's anchor stores are JCPenney and Macy's. Some larger non-anchor stores include H&M and Forever 21. A Round One Entertainment is located in the former Sears wing. The Westfield Group acquired the shopping center in early 2002, and renamed it Westfield Shoppingtown Fox Valley, dropping the Shoppingtown name in June 2005. Westfield Group sold 80% interest in the mall as of December 2015.

The Mall in Columbia, also known as the Columbia Mall, is the central shopping mall for the planned community of Columbia, Maryland, United States. It was severely damaged during the Northridge earthquake in 1994, but renovated extensively in 1995, 1998, and 2003. The mall features J. C. Oakland Mall is an enclosed super-regional shopping mall located in the city of Troy, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. It is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of 14 Mile and John R. roads, adjacent to Interstate 75. The mall features 116 stores, including a food court, plus several big-box stores on the periphery. The mall has 1,500,000 square feet (140,000 m2). The anchor stores are Macy's, JCPenney, Dick's Sporting Goods, At Home, and Hobby Lobby.
River Ridge Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Lynchburg, Virginia. Opened in 1980, the mall features JCPenney, Belk, Dick's Sporting Goods, TJ Maxx, and Regal Cinemas as its primary anchors, with Jo-Ann Fabrics, HomeGoods, and Planet Fitness serving as secondary anchors. Three restaurant outparcels include Red Lobster, Taco Bell, and a local restaurant named Shakers, with a fourth outparcel being Salem, Virginia-based Kemba Roanoke Federal Credit Union. A Residence Inn by Marriott is the mall's first on-site hotel.
