Cruger is in the northwest corner of Holmes County, in the Mississippi Delta region along U.S. Route 49E. Greenwood is 15 miles (24 km) north of Cruger via US 49E, and Yazoo City is 37 miles (60 km) to the south.

There were 177 housing units at an average density of 182.3 per square mile (70.4/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 74.16% African American 25.61% White and 0.22% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.23% of the population.
There were 161 households, out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 32.3% were married couples living together, 30.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.4% were non-families. 29.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.46.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 32.1% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 15.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 years of age or older. Amtrak’s City of New Orleans , which operates between New Orleans and Chicago, passes through the town on CN tracks, but makes no stop. The nearest station is located in Greenwood, 15 miles (24 km) to the north.
