DigitAlb Sh.A is an Albanian media, digital satellite and terrestrial TV platform based in Tirana, Albania. [1] [2] The TV platform began terrestrial broadcasts on 15 July 2004, and satellite broadcasts by the end of that year. At the same time, DigitAlb began broadcasting some channels of defunct AlbaniaSat's satellite platform SAT + which eventually went bankrupt. DigitAlb closely collaborates with absorbing sports package SuperSport while having introduced wireless DVB-H technology for wireless TV for the first time in Albania since 2006. On 15 July 2022, to celebrate 18 years, Digitalb launched its OTT service.

The company forms part of Top Media Group together with Top Channel, Top News, Top Albania Radio, Top Gold Radio, daily newspaper Shqip, Shqip Magazine, coffee producer Lori Caffe, VGA Studio, My Music Radio, and musicAL. In Europe, Digitalb will broadcast until the year 2026 on Eutelsat (Eutelsat 16A). [3]

Digitalb's channels include Top Channel, Top News, T, Max HD, Family HD, Gold HD (aka Digi Gold), Stinët, Explorer Shkencë, Explorer Histori, Explorer Natyra, Film Autor, Film Hits, Film Thriller, Film Drame, Film Aksion, Film Komedi, SuperSport, Bang Bang, Çufo, and Junior.

New developments

On February 14th 2013, DigitAlb launched a new model of set-top box, and also new services. Launching a middleware set-top box, DigitAlb started interactive services for its customers. VOD (video-on-demand), online betting, lotteries, games, IPTV, web navigation through the set-top box and many other options became available to customers. This was the most important new development since the launch of the HD service back in 2007. [4]

tivùsat is a free-to-air/free-to-view digital satellite television platform, launched by the joint venture tivù s.r.l. between RAI, Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media, and serving Italy, Vatican City and San Marino. With the exception of international news services carried in English, services are provided in Italian.

SuperSport is an Albanian group of television sports channels operated by terrestrial television platform DigitAlb. The channels broadcast a range of different sports such as the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, Dutch Eredivisie, French Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Euro, UEFA Europa Conference League, Copa América, ATP 500, ATP 1000, IAAF, etc.

Junior TV is an Albanian private television network for kids and teenagers between the ages 10–18 years old. It was launched on April 20, 2005 by the TV platform DigitAlb. Junior TV is the second Albanian-language TV channel dedicated to kids after Bang Bang, and it is one of the most watched television channels by pre-teens and teenagers.

Eutelsat 5 West A, formerly Atlantic Bird 3 was a communications satellite belonging to the operator Eutelsat. Situated at 5° West, it broadcast satellite television, radio and other digital data. Developed for France Telecom it was transferred soon after its launch to the operator Eutelsat. It entered operational service in early September 2002. Its anticipated working life was 15 years. It was decommissioned in January 2023.

Çufo is an Albanian TV channel for children from 1–14 years old. The rating system is divided into 3 groups: babies from 1–5 years old, kids from 6–9 years old, and preteens and teenagers from 11–14 years old. It was launched on December 18, 2006 by the TV platform DigitAlb.
