UPC Polska (English: UPC Poland) was Iliad's telecommunications operation in Poland. [2] It is one of the largest provider of broadband internet, digital television, telephony and mobile services (as an MVNO based on Play's network) in Poland. It was founded in 2000 when Liberty Global acquired Polska Telewizja Kablowa (PTK). According to the SpeedTest.pl ranking, in 2021 UPC was the fastest nationwide home internet provider in Poland. At the end of Q3, 2021, the company offered to over 1,5 million customers in Poland more than 3,3 million digital subscriptions; its network reached nearly 3,7 million households.
On September 22, 2021, Iliad, the owner of Play, acquired UPC Poland from Liberty Global for US$1.8 billion. The deal was closed on April 1, 2022. [2] [3] On August 31, 2023, UPC brand was discontinued in favor of Play. [4]

Play was founded as a mobile telephony operator in 2007 and has gradually increased its local market share in mobile, up to 27% as of 2017. In September 2020, Play became part of French Iliad. Before being sold, Iceland's Novator Partners, led by Icelandic businessman Thor Bjorgolfsson, acquired a large stake in the company. As of November 20, 2020, Iliad owns 96,66% of Play.

Until 4 May 2010, Virgin Media Ireland traded under the name Chorus NTL and UPC Ireland until 5 October 2015. Its main competitors in the Irish pay TV market are Sky Ireland, Eir and Vodafone Ireland.

Bank Polska Kasa Opieki Spółka Akcyjna, commonly using the shorter name Bank Pekao S.A., is a universal bank and currently the second largest bank in Poland with its headquarters in Warsaw. The Italian bank UniCredit used to own 59% of the company. It sold the bank in December 2016. Now Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń owns 20% of the company, Polish Development Fund 12.80%, UniCredit 6.28% and others 60.94%.

UPC was the largest cable operator in Switzerland with around 1.1 million residential and business customers and was formed in 1994 through the merger of several cable operators. UPC has been a subsidiary of Liberty Global from 2005 until its discontinuation in 2022.
Sunrise LLC, doing business as Sunrise, is a Swiss telecommunications provider based in Zurich, owned by Liberty Global. It provides mobile, TV and landline phone and internet services. Since February 2019, Sunrise headquarters are located at Thurgauerstrasse 101b, Glattpark Opfikon. Formerly a subsidiary of TDC A/S, Sunrise had been owned by CVC Capital Partners until 2015. In February 2015, CVC realised an IPO on the SIX Swiss Exchange. Since then, Sunrise stocks are publicly traded at the Swiss Stock Exchange. In August 2020, Liberty Global announced that it will be acquiring Sunrise for $7.4 billion. The transaction was completed on November 11, 2020.
