Pathanamthitta District is a district in the southern part of Kerala, India. The district headquarters is in the town of Pathanamthitta. There are four municipalities in Pathanamthitta: Tiruvalla, Adoor, Pathanamthitta and Pandalam.
Punalur is a Municipality in Kollam district of Kerala State in India. It is the headquarter of the Punalur Taluk and Punalur Revenue Division. It's situated in the eastern part of Kollam district of Kerala, on the banks of the Kallada River and foothills of the western ghats. It is about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north-east of Kollam and 68 kilometres (42 mi) north of Thiruvananthapuram.Punalur is also Known as Mini Pamba, Lap of the Western Ghat, and Gateway of Sabarimala.

Forest covers more than half of the total area of the District. Pathanamthitta District ranks the 7th in area in the State. The district has its borders with Kottayam, Kollam and Idukki districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Kunnamthanam is a village in Pathanamthitta district in the state of Kerala, India. Kunnamthanam organized mass yoga practise with 5,000 people. It is one of the nine villages that form Mallapally Taluk of Pathanamthitta district. The main junction at Kunnamthanam is a major T-junction, as it is situated almost midway between Mallappally and Thiruvalla, at the center of a quadrilateral with Changanacherry and Karukachal as the other two vertices. Famous Madthilkavu Bhagavathi temple and St. Mary's Sehion Orthodox Church are situated in Kunnamthanam. NSS High School is the oldest school in this village.

Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathi Temple, Vrindavanam Venugopala Temple, Thattayil Ayyappa Temple, Thirumangalam Mahadeva Temple, Varikolil Vishnu Temple, Kandalanthara Shiva Temple, Anakuzhi Malanada Temple, Mynagappallil Anapoorneshwari Temple, Gurunadankkavu Temple are the main religious centres located here. Orippuram Meenabharani, Meenakarthika and Meena Thiruvathira festivals are the major festivals in Pandalam Thekkekkara Panchayath. Also, there are some important festivals happens in panchayath including Parappetty Pettathullal.

Ennasheri Malanada Temple is the only Dushasana Temple in South India. It is located at Thekkemuri of Sooranad North village in Kunnathur Taluk of Kollam district, India. This place is the northern border of Kollam district which Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts share the boundaries.
