Qualification for the 2001 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2001 , took place between 18 May 1998 [1] and 27 January 2001. [2] A total of eight teams qualified for the tournament. The top eight teams from EuroBasket 1999 earned direct qualification.
A total of 32 teams participated. Competition consisted of three stages:

EuroBasket, also commonly referred to as the European Basketball Championship, is the main international basketball competition that is contested quadrennially, by the senior men's national teams that are governed by FIBA Europe, which is the European zone within the International Basketball Federation.
The 2005 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2005, was the 34th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe. It also served as Europe qualifier for the 2006 FIBA World Championship, giving a berth to the top six teams in the final standings. It was held in Serbia and Montenegro between 16 September and 25 September 2005. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The cities of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Podgorica and Vršac hosted the tournament. It was the third time that the championship was hosted by the city of Belgrade. Greece won its second FIBA European title by defeating Germany with a 78–62 score in the final. Germany's Dirk Nowitzki was voted the tournament's MVP.
Qualification for the 2005 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2005 took place between 8 September and 25 September 2004. A total of eleven teams qualified for the tournament. Hosts Serbia and Montenegro plus the top four teams from EuroBasket 2003, Lithuania, Spain, Italy and Greece qualified directly. Greece took the place of the French team, which was the fourth-placed team in EuroBasket 2003.

It was held in Spain between 24 June and 6 July 1997. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The cities of Badalona, Barcelona and Girona hosted the tournament. Serbia won its second FIBA European title, by defeating Italy with a 61–49 score in the final. Serbia's Saša Đorđević was voted the tournament's MVP.

Qualification for the 1999 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1999 took place between 22 May 1996 and 28 February 1999. A total of fourteen teams qualified for the tournament, joining hosts France and World Champions Yugoslavia.
Qualification for the 2003 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2003 took place between 17 May 2000 and 25 January 2003. A total of fourteen teams qualified for the tournament. Sweden and Serbia and Montenegro qualified directly as hosts and EuroBasket 2001 Champions respectively.
The 2009 FIBA Europe Under-18 Women's Championship or simply known as the 2009 Youth EuroBasket, was the 26th edition of the Under-18 European Championships. This tournament was hosted by Sweden for the first time in the history of the championships. The tournament was won by Spain for the third time after defeating the France in the final, 64–54. Hosts Sweden clinched the bronze medal after beating Czech Republic, 67–54.

A total of thirteen teams qualified for the tournament, joining Italy, Spain and France ranked second, third and fourth in the 1991 edition. Yugoslavia as title holder was excluded from all international sport competitions because of sanctions against Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
