FX Comedy (formerly known as Fox Comedy and Fox Life) is a Polish television channel owned by Disney Entertainment, a division of The Walt Disney Company.

History

As Fox Life

The station launched in Poland on 4 January 2007 as Fox Life. [1] At the beginning, it was available only to Cyfrowy Polsat viewers, [2] but it was later added to other cable operators in the country, like Toya. Fox Life aired both cult series as well as premieres of new series, mostly dedicated to women ( Ugly Betty , Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives ). [3] On 6 February 2010 Fox Life HD was launched. [4] The channel changed its logo and graphics from October 2013. [5]

As Fox Comedy

On 1 December 2014 it was announced that on 16 January 2015, due to its low viewership, Fox Life would be replaced by Fox Comedy and became a comedy channel. [6]

As FX Comedy

On 7 November 2023, Fox Comedy was rebranded to FX Comedy. [7]

Disco polo is a genre of popular dance music, created in Poland in the 1980s. It was initially known as sidewalk music or backyard music. TVP Info is a Polish free-to-air television news channel, run by the public state broadcaster TVP. It is focused on newscasts, mainly broadcasting nationwide news bulletins. Until 20 December 2023, its main offices were located in the Television Information Agency building at Warsaw Insurgents Square; since 29 December 2023 the channel's activities are carried out from the main TVP building on Woronicza Street, Warsaw.

Television in Poland was introduced on an experimental basis in 1937. It was state owned, and was interrupted by the Second World War in 1939. Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971. Private television stations in Poland appeared around the time of the fall of communism, with PTV Echo becoming the first private station in Poland.

Cartoonito is a European pay television channel that airs animated programming for pre-school children. It is broadcast in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, the CIS, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Poland, the Balkans, the Baltics and the Caucasus. Cartoonito was previously the Central and European feed of Boomerang, until it relaunched on 18 March 2023 at 6am CET.

Polsat Comedy Central Extra is a Polish channel focusing on comedy owned by Paramount Networks EMEAA. It was launched on 29 April 2010 as a programming block on VH1 Poland. On 14 January 2011, VH1 Poland was rebranded as Comedy Central Family.

The 19th season of Taniec z gwiazdami, the Polish edition of Dancing With the Stars, started on 2 September 2016. This is the sixth season aired on Polsat. Krzysztof Ibisz and Paulina Sykut-Jeżyna returned as hosts and Beata Tyszkiewicz, Iwona Pavlović, Michał Malitowski and Andrzej Grabowski returned as judges.

Universal Channel was a Polish pay-tv-channel owned by NBCUniversal. It launched on 1 December 2007 and It was available on the platforms n, Cyfra+, Cyfrowy Polsat and cable networks UPC Polska, Multimedia Polska, Digital Vectra and Toya. After the merger of n and CYFRA+ to Nc+ the channel was removed from the offer of the new platform. On 12 March 2014 it returned to nc+ again.

Telewizja Republika or TV Republika is a Polish television station, whose editor-in-chief is Tomasz Sakiewicz. The channel can be received via satellite, via the Internet and terrestrial in the DVB-T system, as well as in the DVB-T2 system. From 2022, the channel broadcasts its program 24 hours a day. The live portion of its output in Polish is broadcast every day for 16 hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., while between 11:00 p.m. and midnight, the programs of the English-speaking editorial staff of the channel are broadcast.
