Eska TV is a free-to-air 24-hour Polish language music channel launched on August 8, 2008, in Poland. In the beginning the channel was only on the Internet. After receiving the license for satellite broadcasting, 28 May 2009 got to offer DTH platform n. April 26, 2011 received a concession for digital terrestrial broadcasting. The channel will be in the first DTT multiplex. [1] [2]
The channel presents music videos of artists known from the Eska radio station, interviews and information from the music scene. The station's presenters are journalists known from the Eska radio station Filip Antonowicz, Krzysztof Jankowski and Kamila Ryciak. Eska TV broadcasts its program via Internet and satellite transmission. [3] , based on the concession received on April 21, 2009, as well as terrestrially via DVB-T from December 19, 2011 to September 28, 2016 in the first multiplex, in the period from January 2 to June 16, 2017 on local multiplexes [4] and again in the first multiplex from June 16, 2017.
The Eska TV channel began its test broadcast on the Internet on August 8, 2008. Since May 28, 2009, Eska TV has been available via satellite and cable to a wider audience, at the same time the channel joined the digital platform n in the Style Moda Muzyka package. [5] On October 5, 2009, the program was decoded from the Hot Bird satellite for owners of HDTV satellite receivers that receive transmissions in the DVB-S2 standard , even though the channel broadcasts its program in SD, not HD. Initially, the channel was supposed to be uncoded for only a few weeks, but after that period it was not coded. [6] Since September 1, 2010, the program has been available on all FTA receivers thanks to broadcasting on the second transponder in the DVB-S system. The DVB-S2 broadcast was switched off on September 2, 2010. Since the beginning of the station's existence, new songs have been broadcast, from genres such as pop-rock, R&B, pop, disco, Hip-Hop, electronic dance music (club music), mainly dance (epic house, euro house, vocal trance), house (including hard house, electro house) and trance. In 2015, Polish-language dance music and disco polo music were also broadcast. [7] [8]
On June 25, 2011, the graphics were refreshed and a new logo and graphic design were introduced. In April 2014, a refreshed station logo appeared, and over the following days, a new design was gradually introduced. On October 1, 2014, a new graphic design was introduced with the current on-screen logo. The bars with the song name had the appropriate color scheme for the program being broadcast (i.e. in the 2011-April 2014 design). After the introduction of the 'cartoon' design in 2015, the bars in all programs had the same color scheme. On July 10, 2015, the HD version of the channel was launched. [9] [10] [11]
Due to falling viewership, the station owner applied in April 2016 for a change of the license from music to entertainment and music and for a change of the station's name to 8TV. [2] The National Broadcasting Council approved the change of the license in May 2016, and on June 28, 2016, granted a second license to broadcast the Eska TV station in cable networks and via satellite. [12] On September 28, the station was replaced in the first multiplex of digital terrestrial television and via satellite by the music and entertainment station 8TV. [13] The next change of the setting was on October 10, 2016. A setting with dancers was introduced. The beams remained unchanged. On January 2, 2017, the station returned to DVB-T, this time being included in the multiplexes of local stations NTL Radomsko, TVT, Echo 24 and TV Łużyce , covering Silesia and partly the Łódź province. [4] On August 30, 2018, new bars were introduced with the name of the artist and the title of the song. On May 20, 2019, new graphics were introduced.
On May 28, 2019, the station celebrated its 10th anniversary.
On August 8, 2022, the station began broadcasting in HD quality via satellite, replacing the SD version. [14]
Eska TV entered the competition for a place in the MUX-1 of Terrestrial Digital Television. [15] On April 26, 2011, the National Broadcasting Council granted Eska TV a license for terrestrial broadcasting within the NTC. [12] [13] The channel was in the first multiplex next to the three main TVP channels (TVP 1 HD, TVP 2 HD and regional television) and three selected in the same competition. From December 19, 2011 to September 28, 2016, Eska TV broadcast terrestrially. On September 28, 2016, it was replaced by the 8TV station. [16] On June 16, 2017, Eska TV returned to the first multiplex, replacing the 8TV channel. The previous place of the Eska TV channel was taken by the Eska TV Extra station. [17] Since March 28, 2022, with the introduction of the DVB-T2 broadcasting standard in the Lower Silesian and Lubuskie Voivodeships, the station has been broadcasting in HD quality. [18] Since June 27, 2022, (only) the HD version is available throughout Poland.

Telewizja Polska S.A., also known in English as Polish Television, is a public service broadcaster in Poland, founded in 1952. It is the oldest and largest Polish television network. After 2015, when the right-wing populist Law and Justice (PiS) party won the Polish parliamentary election, TVP progressively aligned with the speaking points of the PiS government. In the run-up to the 2023 Polish parliamentary election, TVP was designated as a "propaganda arm" of PiS by European media and as "a factory of hate" by the Polish opposition. However, after the electoral victory of the opposition party the Civic Platform in 2023, a newly-appointed Minister of Culture began a restructuring of the broadcaster and its news segment. On December 27, 2023, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, due to the President's veto on the financing of the company, placed it in liquidation.
Disco polo is a genre of popular dance music, created in Poland in the 1980s. It was initially known as sidewalk music or backyard music. This genre, a type of Polish urban folk music, had great popularity in the 1990s, peaking in 1995–1997, then gradually declining in popularity through the early 21st century. The genre then had a resurgence in the winter of 2007. The Polish PWN dictionary defines the genre as a Polish variant of disco music, with simple melodies and often ribald lyrics.
TVP Polonia is the international channel of the Telewizja Polska (TVP). The channel is co-funded by the TVP and the Polish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and broadcasts from the TVP headquarters in Warsaw.
Digital terrestrial television was launched in Sweden in 1999. The shutdown of the analogue equivalent started on September 19, 2005, and was finalized on October 15, 2007.
Digital terrestrial television in Denmark was technically launched in March 2006 after some years of public trials. The official launch was at midnight on 1 November 2009, when analogue broadcasts ceased nationwide.
TVP Info is a Polish free-to-air television news channel, run by the public state broadcaster TVP. It is focused on newscasts, mainly broadcasting nationwide news bulletins. Until 20 December 2023, its main offices were located in the Television Information Agency building at Warsaw Insurgents Square; since 29 December 2023 the channel's activities are carried out from the main TVP building on Woronicza Street, Warsaw.

Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971. TTV is the first Polish, social-intervention television channel. It was launched on January 2, 2012. TTV broadcasts of a news and entertainment programs. The channel cooperates with TVN 24.
Kino Polska is a television channel which broadcasts Polish movies and series. For a while, the TV station aired Polish animated shows including Hip-Hip and Hurra, which made its debut there.
4Fun.tv is a free-to-air 24-hour Polish language music video channel launched on February 14, 2004.
TVP Rozrywka is a Polish free-to-air television channel. It was launched on 15 April 2013 and focuses its programming on entertainment TV series.
Polo TV is a Polish-language television channel, focusing mainly on music programming. Its owner is Telewizja Polsat. The station mainly plays disco polo and dance as well as folk, country, romani, muzyka biesiadna and foreign disco music. Aside from music broadcasting, the station also airs entertainment programmes and coverage of music events.
8TV was a Polish television channel, launched on 28 September 2016. On June 16, 2017, the channel was replaced with Eska TV.
Polsat Doku is a Polish television channel belonging to Telewizja Polsat, which was launched on February 10, 2017 at 6 am. The broadcast, also as HD version via the Hot Bird 13B satellite, was included in the offer of Polsat Box, Platforma Canal+ and cable networks in Poland.

Telewizja Republika or TV Republika is a Polish television station, whose editor-in-chief is Tomasz Sakiewicz. The channel can be received via satellite, via the Internet and terrestrial in the DVB-T system, as well as in the DVB-T2 system. From 2022, the channel broadcasts its program 24 hours a day. The live portion of its output in Polish is broadcast every day for 16 hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., while between 11:00 p.m. and midnight, the programs of the English-speaking editorial staff of the channel are broadcast.
