Foxhall Stadium is a Stock car and speedway stadium located in Foxhall near Ipswich. The stadium is run by Spedeworth Motorsports stock car promoters. [1] [2] The stadium opened in 1951 and has been in continuous operation since.
Known as the Foxhall International Raceway, the track is a 382 metre tarmac oval. The traditional main events at the Stadium include The National Hot Rod Championship of the World, held on the first weekend of July (as part of a two day event labeled as 'Spedeweekend') and the Gala Night Held on the closest Saturday Night to Guy Fawkes Night. At both events a large entry of Stock Cars, Hot Rods and Banger Racers can be expected, as well as a capacity crowd of around 10,000.
More recently the Unlimited Banger World Final has been staged here since the event's move from the now demolished Plough Lane venue in London. The world final first ran at Foxhall in 2008 and proved to be a successful change. The world final is predicted to stay at Foxhall for the foreseeable future.
The Stadium is also used by the Ipswich Witches Speedway team, which race on most Thursday nights from March to October starting at 7.30pm. [3] The venue first hosted speedway on 14 May 1951, when Ipswich competed against Yarmouth in a challenge match. [4] [5]
The stadium also hosts carboot sales on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from March until the end of September opening at 6.00am and costing £9.00 to sell and 50p a person entry.
Another thing hosted at the stadium is Foxfest, a truck and car show, which takes place annually at the stadium during June. It is also seen as a fundrasing event with aims to raise money for local charities.
Banger racing is a tarmac, dirt, shale and chalk track type of motorsport event popular in countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands. Vehicles are raced against one another, with the winner being the first to the checkered flag after a set number of laps. Contact to damage an opponent's car is permitted and encouraged within the formula, with cars progressively becoming more damaged throughout an event. Races are held at an oval or tri-oval circuits that are up to 1⁄4 mile long; however, on certain occasions, races are held in a figure of eight configurations. Banger racing is often confused with stock car racing, although there are differences between the two, despite often racing at the same tracks.
Odsal Stadium in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, is a multi-purpose stadium currently the home of Bradford Bulls Rugby League team and Yorstox Stock Cars who host regular monthly meetings of BriSCA F1 Stock Cars and BriSCA F2 Stock Cars. It has also been used by the Bradford Dukes speedway team, hosting the 1997 Speedway Grand Prix of Great Britain. The football team Bradford City used Odsal as a temporary groundshare following the Valley Parade fire while their ground was rebuilt. Odsal Stadium has also historically hosted baseball, women's football, American football, basketball, kabbadi, show jumping, tennis, live music concerts, and international Rugby League matches over the years.
Hot Rods refers to a number of British oval racing formula. Hot Rod racing was introduced at Hednesford Hills Raceway in the early 1960s as a British counterpart to NASCAR-style production car racing. The term 'stock car' was not adopted because it was already in use for a form of oval racing in Britain that had evolved in a very different way than American stock cars.
BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars is a class of single-seater stock-car-racing in the UK with custom-built cars, with races conducted on walled oval tracks of either shale or tarmac of approximately a quarter-mile in length. The cars follow open wheel design principles, and there are no horsepower restrictions for the engines. Drivers may use any engine they choose, with Chevrolet based small or big block V8 engines being the most popular. The season runs from March through to November, with occasional meetings over the Christmas period.

Trevor John Redmond was a motorcycle speedway rider from New Zealand, who mainly rode for the Aldershot Shots, and the Wembley Lions. Redmond also opened a speedway track in Neath, Wales in 1962. Superstox is a type of single seat formula racing, similar to Sprint car racing developed in the 1960s in the United Kingdom. Racing is 'contact' whereby drivers can use the front bumper to help dislodge any car in front. Like most other forms of short oval racing, the higher rated drivers normally start at the back of the grid for each race.
Foxhall is a civil parish in the East Suffolk district of Suffolk, England a few miles east of Ipswich. It is adjacent to the parishes of Kesgrave to the north, Martlesham to the northeast, Brightwell to the east, Purdis Farm to the south and the borough of Ipswich to the west.
