Gwa Kyun, [1] also known as Gwa Chaung, [2] is a small island off the coast of Rakhine State, Burma.

Geography

Gwa Kyun is 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) long and 0.4 kilometres (0.25 mi) wide in its widest point. The island is wooded, rising to a height of 44 m. Its western coast is rocky, while its eastern shore is a white sandy beach. Gwa Kyun is located 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) to the west of the nearest point in the mainland coast. [3]

Ngwesaung, also spelt Ngwe Hsaung, is a beach resort located 48 km west of Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar. It is the namesake of Ngwesaung Subtownship, Pathein Township. In 2014, the town of Ngwesaung had 10,732 people. The beach is 5 hours drive, with no traffic, away from the principal city of Yangon, and an airport is in the works. Buses leave at 6am & 9:30pm from in front of the Yangon Central Railway Station. Opened in March 2000, Ngwe Hsaung is newer than nearby and more popular Chaung Thar Beach, and is designed to attract people with larger holiday budgets.

Kanmaw Kyun or Kanmaw Island is an island in the Andaman Sea along the coast of southeastern Burma (Myanmar), and is part of the Mergui Archipelago. Administratively, it is located in Kyunsu Township, Myeik District, in the Taninthayi Region. On the northeastern side of the island is the town of Kyunsu, which is the administrative seat for the township. The island covers a total area of 409 km2.

Sabi Island is an island in the Mergui Archipelago of Taninthayi Region, Burma (Myanmar). It lies between Money Island to the south and Parker Island to the north. The narrow channel between Sabi island and Money Island is rather shallow, but the half-mile wide channel between Sabi Island and Parker Island is quite deep. The island is heavily forested and has small bays with sandy beaches on the west side. The highest point is 326 m above the sea. Whaleback Reef, which lies about three-quarters of mile off the northeast part of the island, is exposed about 8 ft. at low tide.

Than Kyun or Davis Island is an island at the southern end of the Mergui Archipelago, Burma. It is the largest and highest island of the Alladin Islands, a scattered cluster of islands extending to the W and SSW of Zadetkyi Island. This densely wooded island has two main peaks, each with a height of around 450 metres. The island has a roughly round shape with a diameter of about 6 kilometres. Off its eastern shore rises a 5.5-metre-high (18.0-foot) rock surrounded by a reef. Than Kyun lies 4.5 kilometres west of the southern end of Zadetkyi Island.

Khawzar is a town located in Mawlamyine District, Mon State of Myanmar. It is also a sub-township in Ye Township. Khawsa lies on the Khawsa Chaung about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the coast of the Andaman Sea. It is protected from the sea by a 259 metres (850 ft) hill and the 860 metres (2,822 ft) Mount Pawdaing rises to the east.
