HMD Motorsports is an American racing team in the Indy NXT series. [4] [5] The team is owned by Henry Malukas. [2] [3]
HMD Motorsports was formed from the Indy Lights operations of BN Racing. In August of 2019, BN Racing sold off their Indy Lights operation to Henry Malukas. [8] Henry Malukas then formed HMD Motorsports as a result.
Toby Sowery won the Sunday race at Portland for HMD Motorsports/Team Pelfrey. [9] [10] HMD was to run the 2020 Indy Lights series, but the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. [6] [11]
HMD Motorsports, together with Global Racing Group fielded four cars to start the 2021 Indy Lights series season. [2] [3] [12] Drivers included Benjamin Pedersen, Linus Lundqvist, Nikita Lastochkin, and David Malukas. Exclusive Autosport, due to delaying its planned Indy Lights entry, sold their two cars to HMD/GRG. [13] Linus Lundqvist won Race 1 from pole at the Indy Lights Grand Prix of Alabama with teammate David Malukas winning Race 2 from pole. [14] [15] Malukas won Race 2 from pole at the Indy Lights Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. [16] Lundqvist won the Indy Lights Grand Prix of Indianapolis Race 1 from pole with teammate Malukas winning Race 2 from pole. [17] [18] Malukas won Race 2 at Road America, both races at Gateway, and Portland Race 1. [19] [20] [21] Lundqvist would use another car at Gateway due to a crash before the races. [20] Manuel Sulaimán joined the team at Portland, replacing Lastochkin. [22] Lundqvist won the season finale at Mid-Ohio. [23]
HMD partnered with Dale Coyne Racing for the 2022 Indy Lights series season. Drivers included Christian Bogle, Danial Frost, Linus Lundqvist, and Manuel Sulaimán. [24] [25] The teams partnership continued with Global Racing Group, fielding driver Benjamin Pedersen. [24] Lundqvist won several races throughout the season, while teammate Frost won at the Indy Lights Grand Prix of Indianapolis Race 1. [26] [27] Sulaimán would leave the team and be replaced by Antonio Serravalle starting at Indianapolis. [28] Kyffin Simpson would join the team starting at Iowa, moving over from TJ Speed. [29] Serravalle would leave and be replaced by James Roe starting at Nashville, who also moved over from TJ Speed. [30] Pedersen would win at Portland. [31] Nolan Siegel joined the team for the season finale at Laguna Seca [32] Lundqvist would win the series championship at Race 1 of Laguna Seca. [33]
HMD Motorsports fielded an entry for Force Indy driver Ernie Francis Jr.. [34] HMD also took over the teams equipment and personal. [35] The team started 2023 with nine cars in the Indy NXT field. [36] Christian Rasmussen won the championship racing for HMD. [37] Rasmussen almost ran out of funding three times during the season. [38]
Myles Rowe joined Force Indy/HMD for 2024. [34] [39] HMD started 2024 with ten cars in the Indy NXT field. [40]
HMD Motorsports partnered with Dale Coyne Racing to run David Malukas in the 2022 IndyCar Series and 2023 IndyCar Series. [41] [42] [43] The partnership would end after 2023. [1] [7]
HMD Motorsports entered the 2020 Formula Regional Americas Championship series with drivers David Malukas and Santiago Urrutia after the cancellation of the 2020 Indy Lights series. [6] Logan Cusson joined the team starting at Barber Motorsports Park. [44] Kyffin Simpson joined the team starting at Sebring International Raceway. Indy NXT, previously Indy Lights, is an American developmental automobile racing series sanctioned by IndyCar, currently known as INDY NXT by Firestone for sponsorship reasons. Indy NXT is the highest step on the Road to Indy, a program of racing series leading up to the IndyCar Series.
David Malukas is an American racing driver who most recently competed in the NTT IndyCar Series for Meyer Shank Racing, and is due to drive for A. J. Foyt Racing.
Rasmus Mathias Lindh is a Swedish racing car driver who competed in Indy NXT in 2023 for Juncos Hollinger Racing in the #76 car, after switching from HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing. Lindh previously competed in the then Indy Lights for Juncos.
Linus Hans Fredrik Lundqvist is a Swedish racing driver who currently competes for Chip Ganassi Racing in the IndyCar Series. He previously competed in Indy Lights driving for HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing, having won the 2022 championship. He is also the 2020 Formula Regional Americas Champion. He made his IndyCar debut in 2023 driving the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda.

Roe previously competed in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship with Turn 3 Motorsport. Roe is a nephew of former racing driver Michael Roe.

Bryce Aron is an American racing driver with Andretti Global competing in the 2024 Indy NXT Championship. Aron raced in the 2023 Euroformula Open Championship with Motopark Academy where he achieved three wins and five podiums, finishing fourth largely as a result of forgoing the final three races. Aron is a 2024 Formula Regional Oceania race winner with M2 Competition and a race winner in the 2022 GB3 Championship with Hitech GP. Bryce is the winner of the 2020 Team USA Scholarship and made history as the first American to finish top 5 in both events receiving a Podium in the Walter Hayes Trophy Grand Final.
