Hisar Military Station

Hisar Military Station is an Indian Army installation located near the city of Hisar in Haryana state of Indi. [1] It is the base headquarters of 33rd Armoured Division. [2]

History

It was raised on 15 November 1982 by Major General L. B. Sondhi. [1] It was converted into a fully Armoured Division in December 1993. [1] [3]

Facilities

Married Accommodation

Hisar Military station has 2366 married Dwelling Units (DU) of 152,200.000 Sqm carpet area for Officers, JCO’s & other ranks. [4] [5]

Construction started in 2006 and work was completed in four packages (Pkg-II, III, IV & V) in April, 2009 at the cost o Rs. 250 crores at 2009 price. [4] [6] [7]

The scope of work comprises building work of RCC Frame structure construction (G+2 Storied), underground/overhead RCC reservoirs, Internal & External electrification, Internal & External Water supply, Road/Path/Culvers, Plumbing work, Sewage works etc. Whole project completed in 30 months period without any penalty. [4] [8]

After waiting over a year for the authorities to act on a complaint of alleged irregularities and corruption at the Hisar Military Station, a Colonel has petitioned the President and the Defence Ministry seeking their intervention. [9] [10] [11] [12] The Army has denied the allegations. [9] [10] [12]

Schools

There are currently two schools located at the military station.

Medical and Hospital Care

In 2011, a 250-bedded Military Hospital, Hisar was inaugurated to provide medical facilities. [15] [16] [17] [18] The Military Hospital in Hisar is the 111th hospital of the Army. When fully commissioned the hospital will have nine specialities. It will also have a Blood Bank, an ICU and a Physiotherapy Department. [19]

Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) for the Ex-Services & Their Families

In addition to Military Hospital, Hisar, Central medical Center near Dabra Chowk, NC Jindal Institute of Eye Care at Model Town and Dr. kalra's Sarvodya Multispeciality Hospital opposite Red Cross on Delhi Road in Hissar town are also on the official list of hospitals empannelled to provide the medical care to the ex-servicemen and their families under the Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), [20] [21] [22] [23]

CSD Canteen

CSD Canteen, Hisar depot run by the Canteen Stores Department (India) is on the Delhi Road, just opposite the Police Post. [24]

With effect from 1 January 2009, following are the new monetary limits for buying Non-AFD Items (groceries and low value items) and AFD (Against Firm Demand) Items from the CSD stores. An AFD item can be bought only on the CSD Smart Card of the original cardholder. [25]

Golf Course

There is an 18 hole Golf Course.

Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC)

Hisar DOT Division inaugurated its Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC) on 20 October 2018 which imparts employable skills to the spouses and dependents of working army men & veterans. The ASTC runs National Skill Development Agency (NSDA)'s National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) recognised skill development course under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna of Government of India. Those who successfully complete the courses will conferred Certificates as well as facilitated with placement and self employment opportunities.[ citation needed ]

I Corps is a military field formation of the Indian Army. The Corps is headquartered at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. It was raised on 1 April 1965. It was still being raised when it was despatched to the front in 1965. Raised as the First Strike Corps of the Indian Army, it was launched into operations in the Sialkot sector. The Corps conducted a counteroffensive during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. In the 1971 war against Pakistan, it took part in the Battle of Basantar.

Mahavir Stadium, built in 1972, is a multipurpose sports complex located in Hisar city of Haryana, India. It has second largest capacity in Haryana, after the Shah Satnam Ji Cricket Stadium in Sirsa which has a higher capacity of 35,000 spectators. It is owned and operated by the District Olympic Association of Hisar. The venue is used for several events, such as cricket and football.

Asigarh Fort, also called Hansi Fort, is located on the eastern bank of Amti lake in Hansi city of Haryana, India, about 135 km from Delhi on NH9. Hisar Airport, officially known as Maharaja Agrasen International Airport existing as domestic airport presently under upgrade by 30 March 2024, is a DGCA-licensed public airport serving Hisar in Haryana state of India. It is located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north-east of the city center on NH-9. Hisar is a National Capital Region Counter Magnet City on the 'Hisar-Narnaul Industrial Sub-corridor' of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project. Under the National Capital Region Transport Plan, Hisar International Airport and Noida International Airport are being developed as an alternate within NCR to national capital Delhi's IGI Airport.

The 33rd Armoured Division, based at Hisar Military Station, is part of I Corps "Strike Corps" of Indian Army. I Corps is a battle formation under South Western Command headquartered at Jaipur.

The Central Police Canteen, officially known as the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar, is a retail chain in India serving the active and retired personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces, the Central Police Organisations, and different state police forces and their families. Established on 26 September 2006 by an order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the CPC works as an independent department under the Ministry. There are 119 master canteens and over 1,778 subsidiary canteens in the CPC system. Headed by an additional director general-rank officer, who is appointed by the Home Ministry on a rotation basis from the six CAPFs, the CPC is headquartered at Rama Krishna Puram, New Delhi. The routine affairs related to it are handled by its chief executive officer, who is a deputy inspector general-rank officer.
