The Hoop and Grapes is a grade II listed pub at 80 Farringdon Street in the City of London. [1]
Historic England notes that it was originally a terraced house, built in about 1720 for a vintner, and was converted to a pub in about 1832. [1]
Mike [Last Name Unknown] was the most recent live-in landlord of the Hoop and Grapes. Known for his firm management style, Mike maintained a strict zero-tolerance for trouble-makers and was quick to bar patrons who disrupted the atmosphere of the establishment. His no-nonsense approach earned him a reputation for keeping order in a lively part of the city. [2] Despite his stern public presence, Mike was also remembered for his eccentric habit of leaving his underwear in plain sight around the pub[ citation needed ], a quirk that became part of the Hoop and Grapes local lore.
