Ibrahim Kura Mohammed was elected Senator for the Kano Central constituency of Kano State,Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic,running on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He took office on 29 May 1999. [1]
Kura Mohammed attended New York University in the USA where he earned a degree in political science in 1970. [2] He was first Secretary in the Nigerian High Commission,Addis Ababa,Ethiopia (1972–1973),Executive Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations (1974–1976),Director of the Nigeria Tourist Association (1978–1979) and Chairman of Federal Polytechnic,Ilaro (1979–1983). [2]
After taking his seat in the Senate Kura was appointed to committees on Solid Minerals,Communications,State &Local Government,Federal Character and Information. [3] He decided not to seek reelection in 2003. [4]
After leaving office he became a director of First Fund,a subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria,chairman of Spotless Apt and director / vice chairman of Clearline International. He became chairman of Expatcare Health Services in January 2007. [2] In late 2007 he became FCT Chairman of the campaign organisation for former Ebonyi governor Sam Egwu,who was running for chairman of the PDP. Speaking in January 2008 he expressed confidence that Egwu would take his seat at the next party convention. [5] [6] He died aged 65 on 6 May 2009 in Abuja and was buried in Kano. [7]
Sam Ominyi Egwu is a Nigerian politician and member of People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria. He was elected Governor of Ebonyi State in the 1999 Ebonyi State gubernatorial election from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. Dr Egwu is noted as pillar of educational development in Ebonyi state and Nigeria. He attended the University of Nigeria,Nsukka where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Agricultural in 1981. He later received a master's degrees in Agricultural from the University of Nigeria,Nsukka in 1987 and Doctorate in Agronomy from Enugu State University of Technology in 1996. He was a senior lecturer at Enugu State University of Technology and served as commissioner for education in Ebonyi state contributed to the successes recorded in education sector during his tenure as governor.
Mohammed Magoro is a retired Major General of the Nigerian army who was twice a government minister,under Generals Obasanjo and Buhari. In the April 2011 elections he was elected Senator for the Kebbi South constituency of Kebbi State,Nigeria.

The 2023 Kano State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Kano State,concurrent with elections to the Kano State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections will be held on 25 February 2023 in all 109 senatorial districts where voters will elect senators using first-past-the-post voting. The last regular senatorial elections for all districts were in 2019.
