Fidelis C. Okoro is a Nigerian politician who was Senator for the Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic,running on the Alliance for Democracy (AD) platform. He took office on 29 May 1999. [1]
After taking his seat in the Senate in June 1999,Okoro was appointed to committees on Senate Services,Industries (chairman),Police Affairs,Agriculture and Niger Delta. [2] He changed allegiance to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and became an ally of Governor Chimaroke Nnamani. [3] In December 2001,he was named in an assault suit by Chief Mike Ejinima,an aspirant to become governor,along with Nnamani,Ike Ekweremadu and David Atigwe,a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly. [4] He was reelected in April 2003 on the PDP ticket. [5]
Chimaroke Nnamani is a Nigerian medical doctor and politician from Enugu State. He was elected Governor of Enugu State in the 1999 Enugu State gubernatorial election from 1999 to 2007. He subsequently served as a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011 and was re-elected in 2019.
Ike Ekweremadu is a Nigerian politician and a lawyer who hails from Enugu State and served in the Senate of Nigeria for Enugu West from 3 June 2003 to 5 May 2023. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party,and was the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate for three (3) consecutive senate. On 23 June 2022,Ekweremadu and his wife were charged in the UK with conspiring to arrange the travel of a 21 year old into the UK in order to harvest organs. He was found guilty on 23 March 2023 at the Old Bailey. On 5 May 2023,he was sentenced to nine years and eight months imprisonment.
Ken Ugwu Nnamani is a Nigerian politician who served as the 11th president of the Nigerian Senate from 2005 to 2007. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),he was elected to the Senate from Enugu East Senatorial District of Enugu State in 2003 and served in the Senate until 2007.

The 2015 Enugu State gubernatorial election was the 6th gubernatorial election of Enugu State. on April 11,2015,the People's Democratic Party nominee Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi won the election,defeating Okey Ezea of the All Progressives Congress.
The 2023 Enugu State gubernatorial election took place on 18th March 2023,to elect the Governor of Enugu State,with Peter Mbah declared winner alongside his running mate Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai of the Peoples Democratic Party (Nigeria),after they got the plurality of votes and won over 25% of the votes in two-third of the state. Mr Mbah polled 160,895 votes to defeat his closest competitor,the Labour Party (Nigeria) candidate,Chijioke Edeoga,who scored 157,552 votes. The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA),Frank Nweke Jr,garnered 17,983 votes to come a distant third,while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Uche Nnaji,came fourth position,with 14,575 votes. The election was contested in the Tribunal by Chijoike Edeoga but the tribunal eventually upheld the victory of Peter Mbah.
The 2003 Nigerian Senate election in Enugu State was held on April 12,2003,to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Enugu State. Ken Nnamani representing Enugu East,Ike Ekweremadu representing Enugu West and Fidelis Okoro representing Enugu North all won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Enugu State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
