    Chuba Wilberforce Okadigbo, was a Nigerian politician, philosopher, academic, writer and political scientist. He served as the 8th president of the Nigerian Senate from 1999 to 2000. Sometimes referred to as Oyi of Oyi in reference to his local government council area (Oyi), he held numerous political positions in the Nigeria government and was known to have opposed the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, which was led by President Olusegun Obasanjo.

    Bello Maitama Yusuf GCON was a Nigerian politician and businessman. He became Minister for Internal Affairs in 1979, and Minister for Commerce in 1982, and Senator repressing Jigawa central 3 times. Prior, to joining politics, he founded Quartz Integrated Services Nigeria Limited right after he had finished university, it was a renowned and very influential construction company which had first started operating in Kano. Furthermore, he was also the chairman on the board of four other construction companies at the time, thus, making him one of the youngest multi millionaires in Northern Nigeria at the time. In addition to this, he was a lawyer and had served as a chief registrar at the Chief Magistrate's Court in Kano. He was also a member of the Constituent Assembly and, up to his time, one of Jigawa's few billionaires. Bello Maitama set up the stage for all politicians and businessmen in Nigeria.

    Melford Obiene Okilo had a long and distinguished career as a politician in Nigeria from the start of independence in 1960 until shortly before his death in 2008. He was a member of parliament (1956–1964) and a Minister in the Nigerian First Republic. He was the first elected Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria (1979–1983) during the Nigerian Second Republic. Later he was Senator for Bayelsa East, in Bayelsa State (1999–2003) during the Nigerian Fourth Republic.

    Usman Sarki dan Malam Saidu MP, CFR was the Federal Minister of Interior from 1959 to 1962 succeeded J. M. Johnson and served as the 10th Etsu Nupe from 1962 to 1969 succeeding the 9th Etsu Nupe Muhammadu Ndayako. He was succeeded by his cousin, the 11th Etsu Nupe Musa Bello.

He planned and executed the development of Nigeria's new federal capital in the 80s.

    The 1979 Gongola State gubernatorial election occurred on 28 July 1979. GNPP's Abubakar Barde won election for a first term to become Gongola State's first executive governor leading with 47.6%, defeating main opposition NPN's candidate, Ahmed Mahmudu Ribadu, who polled 34.6% in the contest.

    The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is a public research university located in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. It was opened in 1962 as the University of Northern Nigeria. The university has four colleges, three schools, 18 faculties, 110 academic departments, 17 centres, and seven institutes with over 600 professors, about 3000 academic staff and over 7000 non-teaching staff. The university has over 400 postgraduate programmes reflecting its strife to become a postgraduate studies-centred university. The university operates from two campuses in the ancient cosmopolitan city of Zaria, the Samaru Campus where the Senate Building and most of the faculties are located and the Kongo Campus, hosting the faculties of Law and Administration. It has been adjudged to be the largest university in Sub-Saharan Africa, in terms of land occupied, owing to the numerous buildings it has.

    Sunday Osarumwense Iyahen was a Nigerian mathematician and politician, recognised for his contributions to the field of topological vector spaces and his service as a senator representing Bendel Central Senatorial District. Born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, Iyahen was the eldest of at least seventeen children and embarked on an academic journey that led him to earn a first-class honours degree in mathematics from the University of Ibadan and later a Ph.D. and D.Sc. from the University of Keele.
