Muhammad Adamu Aliero is a Nigerian politician who is the senator representing Kebbi Central senatorial district since 2015. He previously served in that position from 2007 to 2008. He served as the governor of Kebbi State from 1999 to 2007. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Shettima Mustafa was a Nigerian academic and politician. After an early career in medicine,local administration,and media,Mustafa studied agriculture at university,eventually earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree. He became a commissioner in Borno State and joined the Nigerian People's Party,becoming their vice-presidential candidate in 1983. He was jailed after the military coup of December 1983 led by Muhammadu Buhari. After his release in 1985 he taught agriculture at the University of Maiduguri and became head of the Jos region of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. Mustafa served as Minister of Agriculture from 1990 to 1992,and in 2007 was appointed Minister of Defence in the cabinet of President Umaru Yar'Adua. In 2008 he became Minister of the Interior but left office with the 2010 dissolution of the cabinet.
Ibrahim Isa Bio was appointed by President Umaru Yar'Adua as Nigeria's Minister of Transportation on 17 December 2008. After Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan became acting President in February 2010,he dissolved the cabinet on 17 March 2010,and swore in a new cabinet on 6 April 2010 with Ibrahim Bio as Minister for the National Sports Commission.
Mohammed Sanusi Daggash is a Nigerian architect,economist and politician who was elected as a member of the Federal House of Representatives in 1999,and became Senator for Borno North in 2003. President Umaru Yar'Adua appointed him minister for the National Planning Commission of Nigeria in July 2007,and relieved him of his post in October 2008. He was again reappointed as minister for works in April 2010 by acting president Goodluck Jonathan.
Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim is a Nigerian politician who was governor of Sokoto State,between January 1992 and November 1993,during General Ibrahim Babangida's attempted transition to democracy. After the return to democracy in 1999,he became a power in the Zamfara State branch of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),and served for a while in the cabinet of president Olusegun Obasanjo.

Haliru Mohammed Bello is a Nigerian politician. He was trained in veterinary medicine. He held various administrative positions under the military governments before 1999. He was Minister of Communications from June 2001 to May 2003. After he left office,he was indicted in a bribery scandal involving the German telecom company Siemens AG.
Mohammed Arzika was appointed Nigerian Minister of Communications from June 1999 to June 2001 in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He died after a brief illness on 9 June 2015.
Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari,CFR was appointed Nigerian Minister of Water Resources in a June 2001 reshuffle of the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was later appointed President of the African Ministers Council On Water (AMCOW). Shagari held office until January 2007 when he left to compete for Deputy Governor of Sokoto State. He was elected Deputy Governor of Sokoto State in April 2007,and after a legal challenge was reelected in May 2008.

The 2012 Sokoto State gubernatorial election occurred on February 18,2012. PDP candidate Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko won the election,defeating ANPP Yusha'u Ahmed and 28 other candidates.
The 2023 Sokoto State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Sokoto State,concurrent with elections to the Sokoto State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 1999 Nigerian Senate election in Sokoto State was held on February 20,1999,to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Sokoto State. Aliyu Abubakar representing Sokoto North,Bello Jibrin Gada representing Sokoto East and Abdallah Wali representing Sokoto South all won on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party.
