Island Lake is a small community in northeast Manitoba, Canada. The community consists of an archipelago near the north shore of Island Lake which includes the following islands: Stevenson, Wass, Hamilton, Boothe, Chapins, RC Mission, Gravel, and Lindsays. [2]
The community is located 297 km (185 mi) southeast of Thompson, Manitoba and 610 km (380 mi) northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Other nearby communities on the lake are Garden Hill, St. Theresa Point, and Wasagamack. The community is served by the Island Lake Airport.
The community of Island Lake consists of several government and private agencies such as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment, [3] a Manitoba Conservation office, Government of Manitoba (who operates the airport), Stevenson Island School (Frontier School Division), Bell MTS, Manitoba Hydro office, the North West Company, which operates the Northern Store, several small convenience stores and Island Lake Lodge, a fly fishing lodge on Stevenson Island.
Perimeter Aviation has daily service to Island Lake from Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport using Bombardier Dash 8 and Fairchild Swearingen Metroliners. They also have a Medevac Base on Stevenson Island serving the community 365 days a year.
With 21.11 hours of fog annually, Island Lake is one of the least foggy places in Canada. Only Penticton, British Columbia, gets less fog during the year, and no one gets less fog in February when Island Lake averages a mere 0.67 hours.[ citation needed ]
Island Lake has a subarctic climate (Dfc) with mild, rainy summers and severely cold winters.

In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Island Lake had a population of 54 living in 21 of its 66 total private dwellings, a change of -31.6% from its 2016 population of 79. With a land area of 3.54 km2 (1.37 sq mi), it had a population density of 15.3/km2 (39.5/sq mi) in 2021. [5]
The Rural Municipality of Gimli is a rural municipality located in the Interlake Region of south-central Manitoba, Canada, on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg. It is about 75 kilometres (47 mi) north of the provincial capital Winnipeg. The rural municipality's population in the 2016 Canadian Census was 6,181, making it the 12th largest rural municipality by population. The RM of Gimli has an area of 318.75 square kilometres (123.07 sq mi), making it the sixth smallest rural municipality by area.

It is located in the Rural Municipality of Coldwell, in Manitoba's Interlake Region, 99 km north of Winnipeg on Hwy 6. Nearby attractions are Lake Manitoba and its beaches, and the Lundar Provincial Park. Lundar is home to a Canada goose refuge, and a large statue of a Canada goose is located in the community. Lundar was founded by Icelandic settlers.
Leaf Rapids is a town in north west Manitoba, Canada. The town was developed as an experimental model; a model that other northern communities could replicate as they strove for modern convenience and luxury in a northern environment. The community is located approximately 1,000 km north of Winnipeg along the Churchill River. The original (urban) community of Leaf Rapids is on Manitoba Provincial Road 391, although most of the large official town created later lies east of this community. This town is as large as a typical Rural Municipality in the more southern parts of Manitoba.
Brochet is an unincorporated community located in Northern Manitoba on the northern shore of Reindeer Lake near the Saskatchewan border; it is designated as a northern community.
Cross Lake is the name of two closely related, adjoining but independent communities in the Canadian province of Manitoba. One of the Cross Lakes is the Cross Lake Indian Reserve of the Cross Lake First Nation where the main urban area is called Cross Lake. The other Cross Lake is on nearby provincial Crown land. The communities are located about 520 kilometres by air north of Winnipeg, and 120 kilometres by air south of Thompson. They are situated on the shores of the Nelson River where the river enters Cross Lake. An all-weather road, PR 374, connects the communities to PR 373 via the Kichi Sipi Bridge.

St. Clements is a rural municipality in Manitoba, Canada. It is located to the north-east of Winnipeg, stretching from East St. Paul and Birds Hill Provincial Park in the south to Lake Winnipeg and Grand Beach Provincial Park to the north. The Red River demarcates the western boundary of the municipality. St. Clements contains the communities of East Selkirk, and Lockport east of the Red River. It almost completely surrounds the Brokenhead 4 Indian reserve, with the exception of a small lakefront on Lake Winnipeg.
Wekweètì, officially the Tłı̨chǫ Community Government of Wekweètì is a community in the North Slave Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. Wekweètì is a Tłı̨chǫ aboriginal community and is located 195 km (121 mi) north of Yellowknife. It has no year-round road access but does have a winter ice road connection; the majority of transportation to and from the community is through the Wekweètì Airport. Wekweètì is the closest community to the Ekati Diamond Mine on the border with Nunavut. Wekweètì is part of the Tlicho Government.

It is located between and along the South and North Wabasca Lakes, at the intersection of Highway 813 and Highway 754. It is approximately 123 km (76 mi) northeast of Slave Lake.
Island Lake is a lake in northeastern Manitoba in Canada, near the Ontario border. The lake covers a total area of 1,223 square kilometres (472 sq mi), making it the 6th largest lake in the province. The lake is in the Hayes River drainage basin. The Island Lake River flows north from the northwest section of the lake into Gods Lake via Goose Lake and Beaver Lake. Gods Lake drains north through Gods River into the Hayes River.
