The Johor Bahru Rapid Transit System is a proposed rapid transit system to be built in around Iskandar Malaysia which is centered at Johor Bahru, consisting of one rapid transit line and bus rapid transit corridor.

Rapid transit or mass rapid transit (MRT), also known as heavy rail, metro, subway, tube, U-Bahn or underground, is a type of high-capacity public transport generally found in urban areas. Unlike buses or trams, rapid transit systems are electric railways that operate on an exclusive right-of-way, which cannot be accessed by pedestrians or other vehicles of any sort, and which is often grade separated in tunnels or on elevated railways.

Iskandar Malaysia, formerly known as Iskandar Development Region and South Johor Economic Region (SJER), is the main southern development corridor in Johor, Malaysia. It was established on 8 November 2006. The project is administered by Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and was named after the 24th Sultan of Johor and the 4th Sultan of modern Johor, Almarhum Sultan Iskandar ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail.
