KDFT (540 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Ferris, Texas and broadcasting to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is owned and operated by Multicultural Broadcasting and airs a Spanish-language Christian talk and teaching radio format. It's slogan is "La Ponderosa" or "The Power."

History

Gospel years

The station began its broadcasting activities under Freedom Network's direction in 1986 with a Southern Gospel format the temporary call sign KLCA before making a permanent switch to KDFT two months later.

Then in 1990, the station was sold to Way Broadcasting, and changed its format to urban gospel, focusing on Dallas-Fort Worth's African American community. From that day on, it was known as "The Rainbow Across North Texas" (the station's slogan).

Change to Spanish

In 1998, KDFT again changed its format to Spanish Christian radio format under the same name and slogan until 1999. In 2000, Radio Unica purchased KDFT from Way Broadcasting. Then in 2004, its current owners Multicultural Broadcasting absorbed KDFT and the remainder of Radio Unica's stations after that company filed for bankruptcy a year prior.

Throughout the station's existence, it has operated as a daytimer, required to sign off at night. But in 2004, it received Federal Communications Commission permission to expand its airtime to 24 hours a day.

The nighttime transmitter is in Rockwall, using a twelve-tower array directional antenna.

KATH is an AM radio station licensed to Frisco, Texas, and serving the northern sections of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It features a Catholic talk and teaching radio format. Guadalupe Radio Network, a Midland, Texas, based Catholic broadcasting company, took over operation of KATH on October 1, 2006 along with sister station KJON 850 AM. Guadalupe Radio broadcasts Catholic programs in English on KATH and in Spanish on KJON.

KPLX is a commercial radio station broadcasting a gold-based country radio format. It is licensed to Fort Worth, Texas, and serves the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. KPLX is owned by Cumulus Media, with studios and offices in the Victory Park district in Dallas, just north of downtown. Cumulus owns two FM country stations in the radio market, but both KPLX and KSCS maintain separate staffs and musical directions.

KSCS is a commercial radio station licensed to Fort Worth, Texas, and serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and broadcasts a hot country music radio format. The studios are in the Victory Park district in Dallas just north of downtown. KSCS and sister station WBAP are responsible for activation of the North Texas Emergency Alert System when hazardous weather alerts, disaster area declarations, and AMBER Alerts for child abductions are issued.

KTCK-FM is a commercial radio station licensed to Flower Mound, Texas, and serving the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. It simulcasts a sports radio format, along with sister station KTCK. KTCK-AM-FM are owned by Cumulus Media with studios on East Lamar Boulevard in Arlington. Weekdays feature local Dallas-based sports shows, while Fox Sports Radio is heard late nights and weekends. KTCK-AM-FM are the flagship stations for the Dallas Stars Radio Network.

It is owned by Multicultural Broadcasting and broadcasts a Spanish-language Christian radio format known as "La Voz 1360." KMNY uses a brokered programming approach, where preachers buy blocks of time on the station and can ask for donations during their shows to support their ministries.

KVTT is a commercial radio station licensed to Mineral Wells, Texas and serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is owned by Saumil and Poorvesh Thakkar, through licensee Decatur Media Land, LLC. It broadcasts a South Asian full service radio format, featuring Bollywood music, talk and news. Studios are located in Richardson along east Belt Line Road.
