Kwa Vonza is a highly populated market town in Kitui County, Kenya to the west of Kitui town, along Kitui - Machakos road.
It houses the main campus of South Eastern Kenya University and a satellite campus of Kenyatta University (Kitui Campus).
Kwa Vonza is also famous with Colonial British settlers such as the founder of this town, locally called Vonza, whose grave is believed to be at a cross found at the peak of the Kwa Vonza hill.
Kwa Vonza area is now a major picnic spot frequented by university students and locals. Some local churches also hold prayers on the spot around the cross.
Kwa Vonza has seen a rapid growth in the recent past due to the opening of the two universities in the area and also its location at the junction of Kitui - Machakos road and Kwa Vonza - Kanyangi road.
Kwa Vonza market, which is most vibrant on Fridays sells vegetables, livestock, fruits and fabrics.
Kwa Vonza mainly provides accommodation to the students of the two universities and it therefore has a large number of residential houses, hotels, restaurants and recreational places.
Major hotels and restaurants in Kwa Vonza include Moonlight Hotel, club 1.1, Trump, jupiter Hard Rock restaurant, Ideal Place, Miyajima, Bench, Tamasha among others.
Kwa Vonza also borders an extensive area which is covered with a natural forest which contains a large number of indigenous trees and shrubs. This forest is maintained by a Japanese Research Institute - JICA and is inhabited by wild animals such as a wide range of snakes, hares, dikdiks and monkeys.
Kwa Vonza is the home to South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) - Main Campus [1] and Kenyatta University - Kitui Campus. [2]
Secondary schools around the Kwa Vonza area include St. Paul's Kwa Vonza Secondary School, Masaani St. Marys Secondary school and Tanganyika Secondary School. There are many Primary schools.

Kitengela is a municipality in the Kajiado County of Kenya, located 34 Kilometres south of the capital Nairobi, forming part of the greater Metropolitan Area. The human population within the Kitengela area has more than doubled in the last 10 years, from 6548 in 1989 to 17,347 in 1999 to 58,167 in 2009. There is also a town named Kitengela in the area.
The Kamba or Akamba people are a Bantu ethnic group who predominantly live in the area of Kenya stretching from Nairobi to Tsavo and north to Embu, in the southern part of the former Eastern Province. This land is called Ukambani and constitutes Makueni County, Kitui County and Machakos County. They also form the second largest ethnic group in 8 counties including Nairobi and Mombasa counties.

The Kibwezi–Kitui–Kandwia–Usueni Road, also B7 Road (Kenya) is a road in Kenya, the largest economy in the East African Community. The road connects the town of Kibwezi in Makueni County to the community of Usueni in Kitui County. Since its upgrading, the road has opened up many villages and rural-urban settings to business and agricultural activities.
Machakos University is a public university in Machakos, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as a Technical Rural Training School by the colonial government, it was later renamed Machakos Technical and Trade School in 1958, Machakos Technical School in 1967, and Machakos Technical Training Institute (MTTI) in 1987. In 2011, the institution was upgraded to Machakos University College through Legal Notice No. 130, and it was chartered as a fully-fledged public university on 7 October 2016. Today, the university is located one kilometer from Machakos City along Machakos/Wote Road.
Kitui High School is a boys' boarding secondary school in Kitui County and the only national boys' secondary school in the county. It has a population of 1,500 students. It is located about 2 kilometers from Kitui town along the Kitui-Mbusyani road.
The Anglican dioceses of Mombasa are the Anglican presence in and around Mombasa and south-east Kenya; they are part of the Anglican Church of Kenya. The remaining dioceses of the Church are in the areas of Maseno, of Mount Kenya, and of Nakuru.
