Various singers and bands from countries around the world, including Brazil, Germany, Colombia, Poland, the United States, India and Japan, have released MTV-branded albums after performing on MTV shows, a majority of these coming from MTV Unplugged . Most of the live albums are released as audio-only or as visual concert performance albums. Some albums are released as combinations of the two. In Brazil, albums are generally released as Acústico MTV, Luau MTV, or MTV ao Vivo, all different programs from MTV Brasil. MTV has also released compilation albums containing music videos or tracks from the various releases.

Cássia Rejane Eller was a Brazilian singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, regarded as one of the greatest representatives of Brazilian rock in the 1990s. She came to prominence in the early 1990s and performed a mix of rock and MPB. Eller released five studio albums in her lifetime: Cássia Eller (1990), O Marginal (1992), Cássia Eller (1994), Veneno AntiMonotonia (1997) and Com Você... Meu Mundo Ficaria Completo (1999). Her sixth studio album, Dez de Dezembro (2002), was released posthumously. Eller's most successful album was Acústico MTV – Cássia Eller (2001), selling over 1 million copies. She was ranked as the 18th-greatest vocalist and 40th-greatest Brazilian musician by Rolling Stone Brasil. On December 29, 2001, Eller died at the age of 39 of a heart attack caused by a malformation of her heart.

Skank was a Brazilian band from Belo Horizonte. Having begun in 1991, they sold approximately 5,200,000 copies of their albums as of 2004. Initially intending to mix dancehall with traditional Brazilian styles, later the band changed its sonority to music closer to Britpop and local movement Clube da Esquina. Their last concert was held on March 26, 2023, at Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte.
Sandy & Junior were a Brazilian pop music duo consisting of siblings Sandy Leah Lima and Durval de Lima Júnior. They first gained notoriety by being the children of Xororó from popular sertanejo duo Chitãozinho & Xororó. Sandy & Junior began by singing children's songs and sertanejo-influenced tracks. Once they reached adolescence, they changed their style to pop-influenced songs, mainly ballads and upbeat songs. They became a pop phenomenon in Brazil with the release of the albums Era Uma Vez... Ao Vivo (1998), As Quatro Estações (1999), Quatro Estações: O Show (2000) and Sandy & Junior (2001), which sold more than 9 million copies together, receiving multiple diamond certificates. Época magazine compared their success to Beatlemania. One of the best-selling Brazilian artists of all time, Sandy & Junior sold over 15 million albums.

MTV Unplugged is an extended play (EP) and live album by American singer Katy Perry, released in the United States on November 13, 2009, by Capitol Records. After airing more than 100 MTV Unplugged specials, MTV wanted to bring back the series, in order to expose them to a younger generation. The channel recruited various mainstream and popular artists to perform as part of the series, including Perry, who particularly expressed interest in the idea as it would allow her to showcase herself as an artist and share the stories behind her songs.
Sandy Leah Lima, known mononymously as Sandy, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and actress. Born and raised in Campinas, Sandy began her career in 1989, when she formed with her brother, musician Junior Lima, the vocal duo Sandy & Junior. They rose to fame in the early 1990s as child stars and reached the height of their success during teenage, as albums Era Uma Vez... Ao Vivo (1998), As Quatro Estações (1999), Quatro Estações: O Show (2000) and Sandy & Junior (2001) sold more than a million units, with the second and third being among the best-selling albums of all time in Brazil. The duo were credited with leading a wave of teen pop artists during the late 1990s and early 2000s, with the press labelling Sandy the Brazilian "Princess of Pop". The duo disbanded in 2007 and released their Acústico MTV in September that year. In addition to their success in the music industry, the sibling's name became a strong brand, with more than 300 licensed products which made R$300 million a year.

MTV Unplugged is the second live album by English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, released on 6 April 2012 by Island Records. It was filmed on 15 December 2011 in New York City's oldest synagogue building, the Angel Orensanz Center, as part of the MTV Unplugged series, with the band being backed by a ten-person choir. The album contains acoustic performances of eleven songs, nine from the band's two studio albums, Lungs (2009) and Ceremonials (2011) alongside a cover of "Jackson" with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and "Try a Little Tenderness". Upon its release, MTV Unplugged received mixed to positive reviews by music critics.
Rebeldes was a Brazilian musical group that emerged from the Brazilian soap opera Rebel Rio, produced by Rede Record in partnership with Mexican Televisa. In the plot, the six main characters—Alice, Carla, Diego, Pedro, Roberta, and Tomás—form a fictitious band, and the six actors who play these characters—Sophia Abrahão, Melanie Fronckowiak, Arthur Aguiar, Micael Borges, Lua Blanco, and Chay Suede, respectively—started to act like a real band.
Ao Vivo em Copacabana is the first live album by the Brazilian recording artist Claudia Leitte, released on June 27, 2008. The album was recorded during a single concert performed on February 17, 2008, at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro in front of audiences of up to one million people. The disc had sold over 700,000 copies, which earned her a certified Triple Platinum and Gold Record by ABPD.

Rosa de Saron is a Christian-themed Brazilian rock band that formed within the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement in 1988, in Campinas, known for being one of the forerunners of Christian metal in Brazil. The band currently consists of Bruno Faglioni (vocals), Eduardo Faro (guitar), Rogério Feltrin (bass), and Wellington Greve (drums). Their first album, Diante da Cruz, was released in 1994, and they released their next album, Angústia Suprema, in 1997. In 1999, the band recorded Olhando de Frente. In 2002, after a change of vocalists, Rosa de Saron launched the album Depois do Inverno. Their next record, Casa dos Espelhos, came out in 2005, and in 2007, they put out Acoustic CD.
Acústico MTV is the first live album and the second DVD by Brazilian alternative rock band Charlie Brown Jr., released both in CD and DVD formats on September 20, 2003, through EMI as part of now-defunct MTV Brasil's Acústico MTV series – the Brazilian equivalent of MTV Unplugged. It was recorded at the Teatro Mars in São Paulo from August 5–6, 2003, in a lavish set decorated as the nave of a Gothic church.
Roberto Lee de Carvalho, more commonly known as Beto Lee, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist, currently a session member of Titãs. He has also co-founded Galaxy and has released two solo albums, one of them earning a Latin Grammy Award. He is the son of singer Rita Lee and guitarist Roberto de Carvalho.
