Pangio Genus of fishes

Pangio is a genus of small Asian freshwater fish in the true loach family Cobitidae. In earlier taxonomic schemes it was known as Acanthophthalmus. The "kuhli loach" is well-known in the aquarium trade and commonly identified as P. kuhlii, but most individuals actually appear to be P. semicincta.

Rasbora Genus of fishes

Rasbora is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae. They are native to freshwater habitats in South and Southeast Asia, as well as southeast China. A single species, R. gerlachi, is only known from an old specimen that reputedly originated from Africa (Cameroon), but this locality is considered doubtful. They are small, up to 17 cm (6.7 in) long, although most species do not surpass 10 cm (4 in) and many have a dark horizontal stripe.

Clarias Genus of fishes

Clarias is a genus of catfishes of the family Clariidae, the airbreathing catfishes. The name is derived from the Greek chlaros, which means lively, in reference to the ability of the fish to live for a long time out of water.

Glyptothorax Genus of fishes

Glyptothorax is a genus of catfishes order Siluriformes of the family Sisoridae. It is the most species-rich and widely distributed genus in the family with new species being discovered on a regular basis. These species are distributed in the Black Sea basin, northern Turkey, south and east to the Yangtze River drainage in China and south throughout Indo-China to Java, Indonesia. They are found in Asia Minor and southwards to Southeast Asia. The genus is very diverse in the Indian subcontinent. Southeast Asian species tend to have restricted distributions.

Akysis Genus of catfish

Akysis is the largest genus of catfishes of the family Akysidae.

Kryptopterus Genus of fishes

Kryptopterus is a genus of catfishes belonging to the family Siluridae. They are found in freshwater throughout Southeast Asia. The scientific name comes from Ancient Greek kryptós + ptéryx. It refers to the reduced or even entirely absent dorsal fin of these catfishes.

Hemibagrus Genus of fishes

Hemibagrus is a genus of catfishes of the family Bagridae.

Mystus Genus of fishes

Mystus is a genus of fish in the family Bagridae native to Asia. Phylogenetic relationships within this genus are poorly understood, though it has been suggested that there are two major lineages.

Leiocassis Genus of fishes

Leiocassis is a genus of bagrid catfishes found mostly in Southeast Asia with some species occurring in China.

Nemacheilus Genus of fishes

Nemacheilus is a genus of stone loaches native to Asia.

Schistura Genus of fishes

Schistura is a genus of fish in the stone loach family Nemacheilidae native to the streams and rivers of the southern and eastern Asia. Some of these species are troglobitic.

Maurice Kottelat is a Swiss ichthyologist specializing in Eurasian freshwater fishes.

Betta Genus of fish

Betta is a large genus of small, active, often colorful, freshwater ray-finned fishes, in the gourami family (Osphronemidae). The best known Betta species is B. splendens, commonly known as the Siamese fighting fish and often kept as an aquarium pet.

Ompok is a genus of fish in the family Siluridae found in lakes and large rivers throughout South and Southeast Asia.

Least rasbora Species of fish

The least rasbora or exclamation point rasbora is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Boraras, native to freshwater habitats in mainland southeast Asia. This species is very small, ranging from 12 to 16 mm.

Crossocheilus Genus of fishes

Crossocheilus, also known as the fringe barbs, flying foxes, or "algae eaters", is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae. It is distributed in China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand in Asia. These fish occur in several types of habitat, often fast-flowing rivers with rocky bottoms.

Osteochilus Genus of fishes

Osteochilus is a genus of cyprinid fishes mainly found in Southeast Asia with a few extending into adjacent parts of China. Additionally, two species are endemic to the Western Ghats in India.

Kryptopterus piperatus is a species of Asian glass catfish from rivers in northern Sumatra, Indonesia. It was first described in 2004. True K. piperatus is rarely seen in the aquarium trade, while K. vitreolus is common.

Betta cracens is a species of gourami endemic to the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. It is an inhabitant of freshwater swamp forest. This species grows to a length of 5.7 cm (2.2 in), typically inhabits blackwaters that have very soft and very acidic water and is a bubble nest brooder. The Latin term cracens means "slender" or "elegant" and is so named because of the fish's slender body. It was first described in 1996 by Heok Hui Tan and Peter K. L. Ng in The Raffles Bulletin of Zoology.

Betta dennisyongi is a species of gourami. It is native to Asia, where it occurs on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, ranging from Meulaboh to Singkil. It is typically seen in lowland hillstreams and acidic swamps with clear to brown water, including farmland environments. It is known to occur alongside the species Kryptopterus piperatus, Mystus punctifer, Nemacheilus tuberigum, Ompok brevirictus, Osteochilus jeruk, Rasbora jacobsoni, and Rasbora kluetensis. The species reaches 3.5 cm in standard length and is known to be a facultative air-breather.
