Old city

This area consists of areas which were part of Pune before the arrival of the British in 1818. This area consists of 17 peths. This area is today called as Old city.

Other areas under PMC Administration

In the late 19th century, Pune city started expanding and nearby villages were absorbed into Pune Municipal Corporation. The earliest villages were Shivajinagar, Parvati, Wanwadi and Yerwada. As of 2018, below villages have been absorbed in the city.

Areas under PCMC Administration

In 1970s, due to increased industrialisation on Mumbai–Pune Highway, many villages around the highway were merged to form PCMC, Pune. The earliest villages which were absorbed were Pimpri, Chinchwad, Dapodi, Bhosari etc. Till 2018, below villages have been absorbed in the city.

In 1970s, due to increased industrialisation on Mumbai–Pune highway, villages around Vadgaon Maval (a taluka town in Pune district) were developed. These are:

Nigdi is an affluent suburb in the city of Pune, India. Bhakti Shakti, Nigdi is considered as the gateway to Pune. Nigdi Pradhikaran is also an important administration locality for industrial area Pimpri-Chinchwad. Nigdi is a well developed locality with property rates being high in and around Bhakti Shakti and in Pradhikaran localities. Nigdi is also home to Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority, GST bhavan, Kendriya Sadan - Pune CBI headquarters and many more. Nigdi is near to Akurdi, Dehu road and Chinchwad railway station. There is a bus terminal at Bhakti Shakti, Nigdi where you get buses to every corner of the city. Luxury travels and State Transport buses are also easily available in Nigdi.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pune is the civic body that governs the neighbourhoods of Pimpri, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Nigdi, and the remainder of the northwestern city limits of Pune, India. It was established on 11 October 1982. It governs an area of 181 km2 with a population of 1.72 million. The executive power of the PCMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The position is held by Shekhar Singh (IAS) during the pandemic in late December 2020. The general body of the PCMC consists of 128 directly elected councilors, popularly known as "corporators", headed by a mayor. Rahul Jadhav (BJP) was elected as the mayor and Sachin Chinchwade (BJP) as the deputy mayor in August 2018. The PCMC headquarters is situated on the Old Pune Mumbai Highway alongside the freeway in the city of Pune.

Pune railway division is one of the five railway divisions of Central Railway (India) Zone of Indian Railways located at Pune of Maharashtra state in western India. The other railway divisions are Mumbai CSMT, Nagpur, Solapur and Bhusawal. There are 71 railway stations in Pune railway division.
