National Highway 65 (NH 65), (previous name National Highway 9 [1] [2] ), is a National Highway in India. It runs along the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It starts at Pune and ends at Machilipatnam. [3] [4] Major cities on this route are Pune, Solapur, Hyderabad, Suryapet, Vijayawada and Machilipatnam. The section between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, is known as Vijayawada–Hyderabad Expressway and is a major expressway.
The NH 65 passes through below cities and towns, in the order of travel from west to east:
Osmanabad District, officially known as Dharashiv District, is an administrative district in the Marathwada region in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The district headquarter is located at Osmanabad. The District of Osmanabad derives its name from the last ruler of Hyderabad, the 7th Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, of which the region was a part till 1947. This region was earlier part of The Hyderabad State until Independence.This primarily rural district occupies an area of 7,569 km2 (2,922 sq mi) of which 241.4 km2 (93.2 sq mi) is urban and has a population of 1,657,576 of which 16.96% were urban.
The Cosmos Co-operative Bank Ltd., established in 1906, is one of the oldest Urban Co-operative Banks in India. Cosmos Bank celebrated its centenary on 18 January 2006. It is one of the first co-operative banks in the country to implement Core Banking System (CBS) across the entire network of its then 140 service outlets using Finacle-Infosys Core Banking Software. It also received an authorized dealer (AD) license from the Reserve Bank of India to become the third co-operative bank in India to have such a license in thirty years.
Suryapet is a city in the Indian state of Telangana. It is a municipality and the headquarters of its eponymous district. The Government of India announced Suryapet to be developed under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Suryapet has been awarded the "Cleanest city" in South India by the Ministry of Urban development in Swachh Survekshan 2017. It is also known as "Gateway of Telangana". It is located about 134 kilometres (83 mi) east of the state capital, Hyderabad and also it is located about 138 kilometres (86 mi) West of Vijayawada.
National Highway 4 was a major National Highway before National Highway renumbering in Western and Southern India. NH 4 linked four of the 10 most populous Indian cities – Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Chennai. NH 4 was 1,235 km (767 mi) in length and passed through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is now numbered as National Highway 48 (India). National Highway 4 was known as P.B.Road in many parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka states before it was renumbered.
National Highway 44 is a major north–south National Highway in India and is the longest in the country.
Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. As of December 2024, the total length of expressways in India was 6,059 km (3,765 mi), with 11,127.69 km (6,914.43 mi) under construction. As per NHAI and Indian Roads Congress, expressways are access controlled highways with a divided carriageway, designed for high speed vehicular movement and heavy traffic. There is a central reservation or median that separates the flow travelling in opposite directions. Entrance and exits are provided only by grade separated interchanges. The interchanges may be system interchanges used with other national or state highways or be service interchanges used with smaller roads. In contrast, National highways may or may not be divided by a median and may or may not have access control. Some highways, built by State Governments, which may be fully access controlled or may be limited access controlled, are declared or named as expressways by their respective State Governments.
National Highway 30 is a primary national highway in India. NH 30 connects Sitarganj in Uttarakhand with Ibrahimpatnam, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. The total length of this highway is 1,984.3 km (1,233.0 mi). It starts at the junction of NH 9 at Sitarganj and ends at the junction of NH 65 at Ibrahimpatnam, Vijayawada. Development of Ibrahimpatnam-Jagadalpur Route is under process. Rajdeep Rohan joint venture is the contract agency for this project. Second bridge was completed on 17 April 2024 at pilgrimage city of Bhadrachalam which is famous for temple of Lord Shri Rama. NH-30 runs through the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in India.
Peepalpahad is a village of Choutuppal mandal in the Nalgonda district in Telangana, India. This village is known for its agriculture products and famous Ranganayakulu Swamy temple. It is 50 km away from Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, 5 km inside National Highway 65 from Koyyalagudem. Transportation facilities available from Hyderabad to Peepalpahad are only through road ways. The nearest town to this village is its Mandal, Choutuppal, which is just 9 km far. This village falls under Munugodu assembly constituency and Bhongir parliament constituency. The ancient place of Rachakonda hills are very near to this village which is about 10 km.
Umarga (Omerga) Tehsil is a tehsil/ taluka/ subdistrict in Osmanabad district, Maharashtra on the Deccan Plateau of India. The town of Umarga is the administrative headquarters of the tehsil. There are 79 panchayat villages in Umarga Tehsil.
Andhra Pradesh is well connected with various destinations in India, as well as other countries. It has road, rail, airways. With a long coast of Bay of Bengal and many sea ports, it flourishes in sea trade as well. The state has one of the largest railway junctions at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam Port being one of the largest cargo handling seaport.
National Highway 161,, is a National Highway in India running through the states of Maharashtra and Telangana of India. The National Highway 161 joins the cities of Akola, Washim, Hingoli, Nanded, Degloor, Bichkunda, Pitlam, Nizampet, Shankarampet(A), Jogipet, Sanga Reddy and Hyderabad in Central-Southern India with each other.
The Bharatmala Pariyojna was a project in India implemented by Government of India. It was slated to interconnect 550 District Headquarters through a minimum 4-lane highway by raising the number of corridors to 50 and move 80% of freight traffic to National Highways by interconnecting 24 logistics parks, 66 inter-corridors (IC) of total 8,000 km (5,000 mi), 116 feeder routes (FR) of total 7,500 km (4,700 mi) and 7 northeast Multi-Modal waterway ports. The project also includes the development of tunnels, bridges, elevated corridors, flyovers, overpasses, interchanges, bypasses, ring roads, etc. to provide the shortest, jam-free & optimized connectivity to multiple places, it is a centrally-sponsored and funded Road and Highways project of the Government of India.
National Highway 167, is a national highway in India, which was formed as a new National Highway by up-gradation and passes through the states of Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It starts at Hagari in Karnataka and ends at Kodad in Telangana. It is a secondary route of National Highway 67.
National Highway 765, is a National Highway in India, which was formed as a new National Highway by up-gradation and passes through the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It starts at Hyderabad of Telangana and ends at Tokapelle road of Andhra Pradesh.
National Highway 544D, commonly called NH 544D, and sometimes Anantapur-Guntur National highway 544D, is a national highway in India. It is a spur road of National Highway 44. NH-544D traverses the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.
National Highway 365BB is a national highway in India. It is a secondary route of National Highway 65. NH-365BB traverses the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in India. It starts at Suryapet and ends at Kovvur(Rajamahendravaram).Major cities on this route are Suryapet, Khammam and Rajamahendravaram.
Yenegur is a major village located in Omerga tehsil of Osmanabad district, which is part of the Marathwada region of the state of Maharashtra in India.
Vijayawada–Hyderabad Expressway is a 247 km long, 4/6 lane wide tolled expressway that connects Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh with Hyderabad in Telangana. It was opened for public in October 2012. The project was undertaken by concessionaire GMR Hyderabad Vijayawada Expressways Private Limited, a subsidiary of GMR Group on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis. It is one of the busiest expressways in India and is a part of National Highway 65, which connects Machilipatnam to Pune.
Surat–Chennai Expressway is an under-construction, 1,271 km (790 mi) long, 6-lane access-controlled expressway, which will connect the second largest city of Gujarat, Surat, with the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, in India. It will pass through six states: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It will be operated and maintained by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and will reduce both travel time and distance from around 35 hours to around 16 hours, and from approximately 1,570 km (980 mi) to 1,271 km (790 mi). It is being built at a cost of ₹ 45,000 crore (~US$5.5 billion), which was earlier slated at ₹ 50,000 crore. It will be the second longest expressway in India, after the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway.
