The city of Pune is part of Pune Metropolitan Region. Pune is one of the largest IT hubs in India. It is also one of the most important automobile and manufacturing hubs of India. Pune is often referred to as the "Oxford of the East" because of its highly regarded educational institutions. It has been ranked "the most liveable city in India" several times.

Pune Metro is a mass rapid transit system serving the city of Pune, India. The system comprises 3 lines with a combined length of 54.14 km (33.64 mi), of which 24.12 km (14.99 mi) on two lines are operational as of August 2023. The extended metro line from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, including the Bund Garden, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi metro stations, covering a distance of 6 km, was inaugurated on 6 March 2024. The 16.59 km (10.31 mi) Purple Line from PCMC Bhavan to Swargate runs on an elevated viaduct between PCMC Bhavan to Range Hills, from where it goes underground. The Aqua Line runs from Vanaz to Ramwadi covering a distance of 14.66 km (9.11 mi) on an elevated viaduct. The 23.33 km (14.50 mi) elevated Line 3 will run from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi via Balewadi to Civil Court. All three lines will align at the Civil Court interchange station.

The Velodrome at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex is an outdoor velodrome in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The surface of the velodrome is made of concrete and the length of the track is 333.33 m or 1,093.6 ft. While the velodrome was a prime venue for the 1994 National Games of India it has never been a place for any major events thereafter, and was left unused. As there were no cycling events at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games held at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, the velodrome was not used as a competition venue during these Games.

The Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park Phase-3 and International Tech Park are located in this area. Bhoirwadi is well connected and near Balewadi, Baner, Aundh, Pune. Bhoirwadi used to be a village, but now it has been drastically transformed into an affluent, developed area with multinational companies and residential high-rises.
Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), are the annual national level multidisciplinary grassroot games in India held in January or February for two categories, namely under-17 years school students and under-21 college students. Every year best 1,000 kids will be given an annual scholarship of ₹5 lakh (US$6,000) for 8 years to prepare them for the international sporting events.
