Yashwantrao Chavan Natya Gruha is a theatre auditorium and exhibition hall located in Kothrud, Pune. The theater is named after first Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the division of Bombay State and the fifth Deputy Prime Minister of India Yashwantrao Chavan. It is run by Pune Municipal Corporation and was established in 2000 with the capacity of 900 persons with a parking facilities of 60 four-wheelers and 125 two-wheelers. [1]
Sharad Govindrao Pawar is an Indian politician. He has served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on three occasions. He has held the posts of Minister of Defence and Minister of Agriculture in the Government of India. He is president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which he founded in 1999, after separating from the Indian National Congress. He leads the NCP delegation in the Rajya Sabha, the upper chamber of the Indian parliament. He is the chairperson of Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan was an Indian politician. He served as the last Chief Minister of Bombay State and the first of Maharashtra after latter was created by the division of Bombay state. His last significant ministerial post was as the Deputy Prime Minister of India in the short lived Charan Singh government in 1979. He was a strong Congress leader, co-operative leader, social activist and writer. He was popularly known as Leader of Common People. He advocated social democracy in his speeches and articles and was instrumental in establishing co-operatives in Maharashtra for the betterment of the farmers. He is generally regarded as architect of Modern Maharashtra
The Indian National Congress (U) was a breakaway faction of the Indira Gandhi-led Congress (I), formed in July 1979 by D. Devaraj Urs, the then Chief Minister of Karnataka. Urs' explanation of the split was the return of Indira's son Sanjay Gandhi into the party fold. Karad is a city in Satara district of Indian state of Maharashtra and it is 320 km (180.19 miles) from Mumbai and 159 km from Pune. It lies at the confluence of Koyna River and the Krishna River known as the "Priti sangam". The two rivers originate at Mahabaleshwar, which is around 100 km from Karad. They diverge at their origin, and travel for about the same distance to meet again in Karad. The rivers meet exactly head on, thus forming letter "T" which is the only head on confluence in the world. Hence Krishna and Koyna river's confluence is called Preeti Sangam, meaning Confluence of Love. Karad is well known for sugar production and is known as the sugar bowl of Maharashtra owing to the presence of many sugar factories in and around Karad. It is considered as an important educational hub in Western Maharashtra due to the presence of many prestigious educational institutes. The Battle of Pune took place on 25 October 1802 near Pune between the rival factions of the Maratha empire. The forces of the Scindia (Shinde) and the Peshwa Bajirao II were attacked by the Holkars. While the British East India Company was not involved in the battle, its outcome and aftermath led to the Second Anglo-Maratha War.

Keshavrao Marutrao Jedhe (1896-1959) was a leading Freedom Fighter and Congress Leader from Pune at the time of Indian Independence and leader of the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement. The Famous Swargate chowk in Pune is named after him.
Vaikunthbhai Mehta was a pioneer leader of Indian Cooperative Movement. Vaikunthbhai was born at Bhavnagar in Gujarat. Vaikunthbhai served the Bombay State Cooperative Bank, now Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank as Chief Executive for an uninterrupted period of about 35 years. He was the Minister of Finance and Cooperation of the then Bombay State and was the first Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission.

He was Member of Parliament (MP) for the Khed Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra for second time from 1971–1977 and earlier from Ahmednagar during 1967–1970. He was also a member of the Press Council of India from 1 October 1970 – 27 December 1970 and 7 January 1972 – 31 December 1975.

B. G. Kher became the prime minister of Bombay Presidency for the second time on 3 April 1946. He had previously served in the office from 1937 to 1939. On account of Second World War, the premiership was vacant from 1939 to 1946. Kher continued till Indian Independence on 15 August 1947, after which, the office was abolished and Kher succeeded himself as the chief minister of Bombay State.
Yashwantrao Chavan formed his second ministry as Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 8 March 1962, after leading his Indian National Congress to a majority in 1962 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election. He demitted office in November 1962, having been appointed Minister of Defence by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He was succeeded by his buildings and communication minister, Marotrao Kannamwar.
