Marondera District is a district of Mashonaland East Province, Zimbabwe, in southern Africa. [1] [2] [3] It is located in the eastern part of Zimbabwe, and covers an unknown area. The district capital is the town of Marondera, which is also the provincial capital.

Geography

Marondera District is divided into four parliamentary constituencies: Marondera East constituency, Marondera West constituency, Marondera Central constituency, and a small northern portion of Wezda North constituency (most of which is in Wedza District). Marondera Central comprises only Marondera Town. [4] Marondera West constituency comprises the Chihota communal area and includes the business centres at Mahusekwa, Chiwanzamarara and Manyaira. [5] Marondera East constituency comprises the Svosve communal lands, and the Rhodesclarke, Chitangazuva, Waddilove, Musi and Mukute, Surrey and Dambi Estates areas. [6]

Rivers in the district include the Save, the Mtoromanzi, and the Nyakambiri.

It is located in the eastern part of Zimbabwe, and covers an area of approximately 9,100 square kilometres (3,500 sq mi). As of the 2012 census it had a population of 224,987, up from 154,262 in the 2002 census. The people who live in the region are principally from the Shona tribe.

Nyamapanda is a town in the Mashonaland East Province of northern Zimbabwe. It is a border post for crossing between Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The border post on the Mozambique side is Cochemane. Nyamapanda is at an altitude of 579 metres (1,900 ft). A dam on the Nyamapande River just upstream from the town provides for irrigation.

Aeneas Chigwedere is a Zimbabwean politician, historian, educationist, and traditional leader. He served as the Minister of Education, Sports, & Culture since August 2001, and was appointed as the Resident Minister and Governor of Mashonaland East Province in August 2008. He was installed as Headman Svosve Mubayiwa the 10th in March 2008.

The community is located on a subsidiary road north of the A3 highway to Harare. Goromonzi Hill, at 1,581 metres (5,187 ft), is just southeast of the town.

Mudzi District is a district of Mashonaland East Province, Zimbabwe, in southern Africa. It is located in the far eastern part of Zimbabwe, and covers 4,075 square kilometres (1,573 sq mi), all of which is communal land. As of the 2012 census, the district had a population of 133,252, this is down from the 135,378 of the 2002 census and reflects emigration due to the poverty of the district. It has a single main road, A2, that runs from the town of Mutoko in Mutoko District in the southwest through the district, past the villages of Chifamba, Mudzi, Chingwena, Masarakufa, Nyamuwanga, the town of Kotwa, and the village of Muzezuru to the town of Nyamapanda before entering Mozambique to the northeast.

Marondera Central is a constituency of the House of Assembly of Zimbabwe, covering much of Marondera, Mashonaland East Province. It was created in 2008 from territory taken from Marondera East and Marondera West. Its current Member of Parliament is Caston Matewu.

John Maurice "Jock" Kay was a Zimbabwean farmer and politician. A member of the House of Assembly of Zimbabwe from 1983 to 1990, he served as the Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement from 1988 to 1990. He entered Parliament as an independent, before joining the ruling ZANU–PF party in 1987.
