The National Hotel, also known as the Wolff Building or Hard Time Hotel, [2] is a historic hotel in Westcliffe, Colorado. It was built in 1887 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. [1]

It is a two-story brick building, designed in a Romanesque Vernacular style. It has a rusticated stone front and a high front parapet, and it is the only commercial building on its block. [3]

Paris Elks Lodge No. 812 Building United States historic place

The Paris Elks Lodge No. 812 Building is a historic building located at 111 E. Washington St. in Paris, Illinois. The building served as a meeting place for the Paris lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. The building was constructed in 1927, 25 years after the Paris Lodge was chartered. Architect Everett Blackman, a member of the lodge, designed the building in the Mediterranean Revival style. Blackman's design features an arcade loggia enclosing the front entrance and a square tower with a parapet roof designed to resemble elk antlers. The building's amenities included a bar and ballroom on the second floor, a bowling alley in the basement, and meeting rooms for the lodge. The third floor of the building housed rooms for the adjacent France Hotel; it was connected to the hotel by a stone walkway and cannot be accessed from the lower floors. The Elks used the building until the lodge filed for bankruptcy in 1978.

Hopi House United States historic place

Hopi House is located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, within Grand Canyon National Park in the U.S. state of Arizona. Built in 1904 as concessioner facilities at the South Rim were being developed, it is the first of eight projects at the Grand Canyon that were designed by architect Mary Colter, along with Bright Angel Lodge, Hermit's Rest, Lookout Studio, Phantom Ranch, Desert View Watchtower, Colter Hall and Victor Hall,. Hopi House was built by the Fred Harvey Company as a market for Native American crafts, made by artisans on the site. The Hopi, as the historic inhabitants of the area, were chosen as the featured artisans, and the building was designed to closely resemble a traditional Hopi pueblo. Hopi House opened on January 1, 1905, two weeks before the El Tovar Hotel, located just to the west, was opened.

William Ellsworth Fisher was an architect who founded the Denver, Colorado firm that became Fisher & Fisher.

John J. Huddart British architect

John James Huddart (1856–1930), known usually as John J. Huddart, was a British born and trained architect who practised out of Denver, Colorado in the United States. At the end of the Nineteenth century he was one of Denver's leading architects, known for his work on public buildings and as a courthouse architect. His practice lasted from 1882 to 1930 and commissions included Charles Boettcher House in Denver, Colorado's Fort Morgan State Armory, Denver's Filbeck Building, and six of Colorado's county courthouses.

Kennicott Cabin United States historic place

The Kennicott Cabin is a log house located at 63161 State Highway 69, north of Westcliffe, Colorado. The cabin was constructed in 1869 by Frank Kennicott, one of the first settlers in the Wet Mountain Valley. The cabin's design reflects cabin construction methods popular in the Eastern United States rather than common Western designs, possibly because Kennicott was from Illinois. In addition, the cabin is an unusual example of a two-story log cabin.

Frederick C. Eberley

Frederick Carl Eberley was a prominent architect in Denver, Colorado. His work included the Barth Hotel (1882). He is also credited with Kopper's Hotel and Saloon, also known as the Airedale Building, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. Eberley lived in the Schulz-Neef House, built in 1881 at 1739 E. 29th Avenue, for a time after German immigrant R. Ernst Schulz, a bookkeeper at the German National Bank and real estate investor for whom it was built. Eberley later lived at 29th Avenue and Gilpin Street. Eberley was a German immigrant and his commission for the Kopper's Hotel and Saloon came from a fellow German immigrant. His other work includes Colorado State Armory, Blatz Brewery, Colorado Bakery & Saloon, and Groussman Grocery.

Durango High School United States historic place

Durango High School, also known as the Durango 9-R Administration Building, is a former school in Durango, Colorado. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties. The building opened in 1917, and served as a high school until 1976, after which it became the district administration building.

The First National Bank Building, also known as the American National Bank of Denver, Colorado was originally built as the headquarters building in 1911. Located at the corner of 17th and Stout Streets, it is now the Magnolia Hotel. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. In 2000, it became part of the Downtown Denver Historic District.
