The Nelson C. and Gertrude A. Burch House, (also known as the Smith House and Sandy House) is a historic house located at 115 West Atchison Street in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri.

Jefferson City, officially the city of Jefferson and informally Jeff, is the capital of the U.S. state of Missouri and the 15th most populous city in the state. It is also the county seat of Cole County and the principal city of the Jefferson City Metropolitan Statistical Area, the second-most-populous metropolitan area in Mid-Missouri and fifth-largest in the state. Most of the city is in Cole County, with a small northern section extending into Callaway County.

Cole County is a county in the central part of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 75,990. Its county seat and largest city is Jefferson City, the state capital. The county was organized November 16, 1820 and named after pioneer Captain Stephen Cole, an Indian fighter and pioneer settler, who built Cole's Fort in Boonville.

Description and history

It was built in 1869, and is a two-story, Italianate style brick dwelling on a stone foundation. It has a front gable roof and segmentally arched windows. Also on the property is a contributing garage. [2] :5

Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art is located in Augusta, Georgia, in the home of former Augusta Mayor and United States Senator Nicholas Ware. Olivia Herbert founded the Institute in 1937. Thomas Nelson House (Boonville, Missouri)

Thomas Nelson House, also known as Forest Hill, is a historic home located at Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri. It was built in 1843, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style brick dwelling with a rear ell. Symmetrical, flanking one-story wings were added about 1946. It has a side gable roof and features a two-story gabled, pedimented front portico, constructed about 1853. The house is in the George Caleb Bingham painting "Forest Hill the Nelson Homestead."

Mechum River Farm building in Virginia, United States

Mechum River Farm is an historic manor house and farm located near Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia. The original house was built about 1820 presumably by a Burch family member, then updated and expanded about 1850 in the Gothic Revival style during the ownership of John C. Burch and Lucinda E. Gay Burch. It is a 1 1/2-story, three bay, brick hall and parlor plan dwelling set on a raised basement with a solid brick foundation and a side gable roof. It features a hipped-roof portico over the central single-leaf entry. It has a rear addition built about 1920 and an extension to that built in 1976. Also on the property are a contributing barn, shed, wood shed, Delco shed, smokehouse, chicken coop, privy, shed, and family cemetery.
