Non-structural institution

Non-structural institutions (Indonesian : Lembaga Nonstruktural; LNS) or non-structural agencies are special organizations in Indonesia distinct from traditional government ministries and non-ministerial government bodies. [1] Formed through certain legislative and executive acts, (e.g. laws, government regulation, presidential regulation) [1] non-structural institutions are formed to support the overall functions of the state and government, addressing specific needs/tasks that cannot be as efficiently handled by existing ministries and agencies. [2] Funding for these organizations come from the national budget (APBN). [3]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Indonesian passport</span> Passport of the Republic of Indonesia issued to Indonesian citizens

An Indonesian passport is a travel document issued by the Government of Indonesia to Indonesian citizens residing in Indonesia or overseas. The main governing body with regards to the issuance of such passport(s), possession(s), withdrawal and related matters is the Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Indonesia does not recognize multiple citizenship for its citizens and such citizens will automatically lose their Indonesian citizenship if another citizenship is acquired voluntarily. Special exceptions allow newly born citizens to hold dual nationalities until his/her eighteenth birthday after which a choice of either nationalities should be decided. The latest Indonesian passport has different national birds and sceneries on each page.

Law of Indonesia is based on a civil law system, intermixed with local customary law and Dutch law. Before the British presence and colonization began in the sixteenth century, indigenous kingdoms ruled the archipelago independently with their own custom laws, known as adat. Foreign influences from India, China and the Middle East have not only affected culture, but also the customary adat laws. The people of Aceh in Sumatra, for instance, observe their own sharia law, while ethnic groups like the Toraja in Sulawesi still follow their animistic customary law.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Orders, decorations, and medals of Indonesia</span>

Awards and decorations of the Republic of Indonesia are both military and civilian awards for service and personal contributions to the Republic of Indonesia. According to the Constitution of Indonesia, Chapter III Article 15: "The President grants titles, decorations and other honors as regulated by Law".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Driving license in Indonesia</span>

The Indonesian driving license is a legal document required for a person to be allowed to drive a motor vehicle in Indonesia. It is issued by the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), renewable every 5 years, and is valid in all ASEAN member states without an International Driving Permit. Driving license holders are subject to all Indonesian road rules and regulations. There is no provisional driving license in Indonesia.

The Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia is the competent authority to advise the Government of Indonesia on matters of law. It serves as the central organization for the Indonesian Public Prosecution Service. The Attorney General's Office is seated in the national capital Jakarta.

In Indonesia, a regional regulation is a regulation that is passed by Indonesian local governments and carry the force of law in that region. There are two levels of regional regulations. Provinces pass provincial regulation, while the second tier subdivisions of Indonesia, known as regencies and cities pass regency regulation and city regulation, respectively. Each type of regional regulation is passed by the region's parliamentary body together with their chief executive.

In Indonesia, state-owned enterprises play an important role in the national economy. Their roles includes contributor for national economy growth, providing goods or services which are not covered by private company, employment provider, providing support guidance to small and medium businesses, and source of government revenue. The Ministry of State Owned Enterprises represents the government's function as a shareholder of most of those companies, while some are represented by the Ministry of Finance.

In Indonesian law, the term "city" is generally defined as the second-level administrative subdivision of the Republic of Indonesia, an equivalent to regency. The difference between a city and a regency is that a city has non-agricultural economic activities and a dense urban population, while a regency comprises predominantly rural areas and is larger in area than a city. However, Indonesia historically had several classifications of cities.

Public broadcasting institutions in Indonesia currently consists of three separate entities: Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI), and local public broadcasting institutions. The classification is based on Act No. 32 of 2002 on Broadcasting and followed by Government Regulation No. 11 of 2005 on Broadcasting Provision of Public Broadcasting Institution.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">National Research and Innovation Agency</span> Indonesian research superagency

The National Research and Innovation Agency is a cabinet-level government agency formed by the Indonesian government in 2019. Originally a new agency attached to the Ministry of Research and Technology, which became the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency, the agency was controversially separated and established as a new non-ministerial government agency directly under the President of Indonesia on 28 April 2021. On 23 August 2021, the agency gained cabinet-level status through enactment of Presidential Decree No. 78/2021. Under the new presidential regulation, the agency became the sole national research agency of Indonesia.

The Research Organization for Aeronautics and Space is one of the research organizations under the umbrella of the National Research and Innovation Agency. It was founded on 1 September 2021 as the successor of the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space following the liquidation of LAPAN into BRIN.

Nusantara Capital City Authority is a cabinet level-agency formed by the Indonesian government, working directly under the President of Indonesia. The agency will become a special agency tasked with managing and governing the city of Nusantara, future capital of Indonesia located on Kalimantan.

The Indonesian Criminal Code, commonly known in Indonesian as Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana, abbreviated as KUH Pidana or KUHP), are laws and regulations that form the basis of criminal law in Indonesia. By deviating as necessary from Presidential Regulation dated 10 October 1945 No. 2, it stipulated that the criminal law regulations that are in effect are the Dutch criminal law regulations that existed on 8 March 1942. Currently, the Republic of Indonesia has its own Criminal Code, that is due to take effect in 2026.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">National Strategic Project</span> Indonesian infrastructure projects

National Strategic Projects are Indonesian infrastructure projects which are designated as strategic in increasing economic growth, equitable development, community welfare and regional development. It was established during the administration of President Joko Widodo. PSN is regulated through a presidential regulation, while project implementation is carried out directly by the central government, regional government, and/or business entities as well as Government-Enterprise Cooperation (KPBU), prioritizing the use of domestic components. The legal basis for PSN is Presidential Regulation No. 3 of 2016 which was successively amended by Presidential Regulation No. 58 of 2017, Presidential Regulation No. 56 of 2018, and Presidential Regulation No. 109 of 2020.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jaminan Kredit Indonesia</span> Indonesian state-owned company in the guarantee industry

PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) is a part of one of Indonesia's state-owned enterprises and is a component of PT Bahana Pembinaan Usaha Indonesia, operating in the field of credit guarantee, both conventional and sharia. It is the only state-owned enterprise tasked with providing guarantees.

The Press Council is an independent non-structural agency in Indonesia responsible for safeguarding the freedom of the press. Initially functioning as merely an advisory body to the Department of Information during the New Order era, the council was reformed into a wholly autonomous and independent entity devoid of government influence following the fall of the regime. In the present day, the Press Council regulates the press industry, defends journalists from external parties, and handles journalist disputes.
