SNCF 040.DF was a class of one prototype diesel-hydraulic locomotive built for the SNCF built in 1952 by Renault.
In 1962 it was renumbered from 040.DF.1 to BB 60041.
Like the 060.DA, it was delivered in a livery of dark green with a yellow stripe.
The SNCF 040.DF has been produced in HO scale by ApocopA as a cast resin bodyshell for mounting on an underframe of the modelmakers' choice.

The SNCF BB 16500 were a class of electric locomotives built by Alsthom between 1958 and 1964 for the SNCF.
The SNCF Class BB 47000 "Prima" electric locomotive is a 6,000 kW (8,000 hp) locomotive, built by Alstom. This locomotive is the quadruple-voltage version of the Class BB 27000. So far, only one locomotive, numbered 47001, has been built and was tested by Fret SNCF with a view for further orders. In 2006 it became clear that SNCF wouldn't order this version anymore and the locomotive had passed on to Alstom as a permanent test bed locomotive for testing different Alstom technologies. In 2009, the locomotive was devoid of all technical components. Its bogies were re-used by the Prima II-prototype. The locomotive is now stored outside Alstom's Belfort plant.
The SNCF Class BB 27000 "Prima" electric locomotives were built by Alstom between 2001–2005. These are dual-voltage freight-only locomotives; they are not fitted with a 1500 V DC electrical line for train heating and accessories. One hundred and eighty of the locomotives, numbered 27001–27180, were built for Fret SNCF, for use on freight traffic. Their introduction led to the withdrawal of several elderly electric types, including Classes CC 7000, CC 7100, BB 8100 and BB 12000. They have also made significant inroads into Classes CC 6500, BB 8500, BB 16500 and BB 25500.
The SNCF Class BB 60030 diesel locomotives were built by FAMH / Jeumont for the Chemin de Fer Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (PLM) in 1938. They were powered by Sulzer engines, producing 550 bhp, and weighed 68.5 tonnes.
The SNCF Class Z 6400 electric multiple unit trains were built by Alsthom/Carel et Fouché from 1976 to 1979. They are chiefly used in commuter service to the Gare Saint-Lazare in Paris, serving the northwest Paris suburbs.
The SNCF Class BB 7200 is a 1.5 kV DC electric locomotive operated by the SNCF in France. It is the DC version of the 'Nez Cassé' family of locomotives built between 1976 and 1985 by Alstom. They are rated for 4,040 kW (5,420 hp) of continuous power. SNCF Class BB 15000 is the AC version while the Class BB 22200 is a dual-voltage version. Another relative is the NS Class 1600 operated in the Netherlands, a DC locomotive based on the BB 7200. Intended primarily for passenger service, increasing numbers are being allocated for freight service with lower-geared bogies as passenger services are taken from locomotive-hauled coaches by TGV services. BB 7200 operations are limited to the French 1.5 kV DC electrified network in southeastern France, from Paris southwards. In 2016 48 were allocated to freight, 58 to intercity passenger service, 50 to regional passenger service, and two to auto-train service.

État 40-001 to 40-143 was an class of 0-8-0 Tank locomotives of the Chemins de Fer de l'État. They later served with the SNCF who renumbered them 3-040.TA.1 to 3-040.TA.143.
The Y 7400 class of small shunters is France's most numerous with 488 locomotives in the production build. The first 120 were built by Decauville, with further batches built by De Dietrich (105) and Moyse (263). They have the 0-4-0 ("B") wheel arrangement, 150 kW diesel engines and mechanical transmission. They can be found all over the French network.
The SNCF locomotives BB 101 to BB 180 were a class of 1500 V DC 4-axle electric locomotives originally built for the Chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans in the 1920s. The class were built as part of an order for 200 locomotives of similar types and were initially used on the newly electrified Paris - Vierzon line before being displaced by the SNCF 2D2 5500 class.
The SNCF Class A1AA1A 68000 is a class of diesel-electric locomotives of the SNCF. Originally a class of 80 locomotives, they were built for both passenger and freight service. They were ordered on 7 June 1961, the first entering service on 13 December 1963 at Chalindrey depot. A further 5 were added by refitting members of the similar AGO powered Class A1AA1A 68500 with Sulzer engines, thought to be those formerly used in the BR Class 48 locomotives, D1702–1706. Subsequently, 13 members of the class were rebuilt as Class A1AA1A 68500, 1 in 1963 and 12 in 1993. The last was withdrawn from traffic in 2005, with the exception of 68081 which has been preserved at the Cité du Train.

The SNCF Class CC 72000 was a class of C′C′ diesel-electric locomotives designed and built by French manufacturing conglomerate Alsthom. They are regarded as being the most powerful class of diesel locomotives to be built in France.

The Nez Cassé series of locomotives is a large family of electric and diesel locomotives intended primarily for fast passenger service on the French SNCF railway system. Produced by Alsthom for use under multiple electrification networks and un-electrified lines, they have been in widespread use from 1976 into the 21st century. Classes produced in the main series were BB 7200/7600 and CC 6500 under 1.5 kV DC, BB15000 under 25 kV 50 Hz AC, BB 22200 (7200+15000) and CC 21000 under dual 1.5 kV DC and 25 kV 50 Hz AC, and the diesel CC 72000/72100.
The SNCF Class CC 14100 was a class of 25 kV 50 Hz AC electric centre cab locomotives designed to haul heavy freight trains in the northeast of France and cross-border traffic into Luxembourg. A total of 101 locomotives were produced, numbered CC 14101 – CC 14202.
The SNCF Class BB 63500 are a class of centre cab diesel locomotives built for SNCF between 1956 and 1971 by Brissonneau & Lotz. They are a slightly more powerful version of the BB 63400. A total of 580 locomotives were built. Four units, numbers BB 63896, BB 63901, BB 63902 and BB 63906, were equipped with electric train heating and based at La Plaine for operating trip workings of passenger trains between Paris Gare du Nord and Paris Gare de Lyon round the Petit Ceinture. Three batches, numbered BB 63721–BB 63750, BB 63811–BB 63855 and BB 63981–BB 64020, totalling 115 locomotives, were equipped for multiple working.
The SNCF Class BB 66000 is a class of 318 centre cab diesel locomotives built for SNCF by a consortium of CAFL, CEM, Alsthom, Fives-Lille and SACM between 1960 and 1968.
