Saint Mark's Chapel is a small, formerly Episcopal chapel located on the grounds of the Mordecai House in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. The chapel, along with the rest of the Mordecai plantation, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The chapel is a very popular place for weddings. [2]

History

The Episcopalian St. Mark's Chapel was built by slave carpenters in 1847 on the Chatham County plantation of John Haughton. The chapel was moved to Siler City in 1953 for use by another congregation. Mordecai Historic Park received the chapel in 1979 and it is in use today for weddings, meetings, seminars, and lectures. [2] [3]

Oakwood Cemetery is a nonsectarian rural cemetery in northeastern Troy, New York, United States. It operates under the direction of the Troy Cemetery Association, a non-profit board of directors that deals strictly with the operation of the cemetery. It was established in 1848 in response to the growing rural cemetery movement in New England and went into service in 1850. The cemetery was designed by architect John C. Historic Oakwood is a neighborhood in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, on the National Register of Historic Places, and known for its Historic Oakwood Cemetery, its many Victorian houses and its location close to the Mordecai Plantation Manor. Located near the State Capitol and St. Augustine's Chapel, during the 19th century Historic Oakwood was home to prominent members of Raleigh's society. It is North Carolina's largest, intact 19th Century residential neighborhood and Raleigh's earliest white middle-class suburb. Unlike later suburbs, it developed lot-by-lot over time, instead of by platted sections. Its Victorian-era architectural styles include Second Empire, Queen Anne, and Italianate. Later infill brought the bungalow, the American Foursquare, American Craftsman style, and the Minimal Traditional house to the area.

Strawberry Chapel is a parochial chapel of ease in the lower part of St. John's, Berkeley Parish in Berkeley County, South Carolina that was built in 1725. It is on Strawberry Chapel Road between South Carolina State Highway 8-44 and the West Branch of the Cooper River. Bordering Strawberry's property is the South Carolina State owned historic site of the “Town of Childsbury.” It was a planned community that was settled in 1707. The town no longer exists. They were named to the National Register of Historic Places on April 26, 1972. Strawberry Chapel, graveyard and lands are private property and only open to the public on special occasions and annual church services.

All Saints Chapel has been a privately owned venue for weddings and events since 2008 and has been used for worship services by Redeemer Anglican Church, a congregation of the Anglican Church in North America since 2015.
