Tiyo is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Part of the Arsi Zone, Tiyo is bordered on the south by Munesa, on the west by Batu Dugda, on the northeast by Hitosa, and on the southeast by Digeluna Tijo. The administrative center of the woreda and Zone is Asella; other towns in Tiyo include Gonde.
Mount Chilalo is the highest point in this woreda. Rivers include the Katar, Kulmsa, Gonde, Dosha and Walkesa. A survey of the land in this woreda shows that 40% is arable or cultivable (32% was planted with cereals), 23.1% pasture, 8.7% forest, and the remaining 28.2% is considered swampy, mountainous or otherwise unusable. Industry in the woreda includes the Asella Malt factory, 55 small industries including 39 grain mills employing 240 people, as well as 2023 registered businesses of which 21.7% were wholesalers, 53% retailers, and 25.3% service providers. There were 15 Farmers Associations with 13,704 members and 9 Farmers Service Cooperatives with 426 members. Tiyo has 16 kilometers of dry-weather and 46.5 of all-weather road, for an average road density of 98 kilometers per 1000 square kilometers. About 53.7% of the total population has access to drinking water. [1]
The 2007 national census reported a total population for this woreda of 86,761, of whom 43,463 were men and 43,298 were women; 6,525 or 7.52% of its population were urban dwellers. The majority of the inhabitants said they practised Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, with 58.5% of the population reporting they observed this belief, while 40.24% of the population were Muslim, and 1.05% of the population were Protestant. Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 182,193, of whom 93,369 are men and 88,824 are women; 91,775 or 50.37% of its population are urban dwellers, which is greater than the Zone average of 12.3%. With an estimated area of 638.44 square kilometers, Tiyo has an estimated population density of 285.4 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 132.2. [3]
The 1994 national census reported a total population for this woreda of 117,197, of whom 56,725 were men and 60,472 women; 51,387 or 43.85% of its population were urban dwellers at the time. The five largest ethnic groups reported in Tiyo were the Oromo (53.92%), the Amhara (37.63%), the Soddo Gurage (3.41%), the Silt'e (1.73%), and the Sebat Bet Gurage Gurage (1.07%); all other ethnic groups made up 2.24% of the population. Amharic was spoken as a first language by 51.2%, 45.51% spoke Oromiffa, 1.06% Soddo and 0.88% spoke Silt'e; the remaining 1.35% spoke all other primary languages reported. The majority of the inhabitants professed Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, with 71.06% of the population having reported they practiced that belief, while 27.02% of the population said they were Muslim, and 1.61% were Protestant. East Shewa is a zone in Oromia Region of Ethiopia. East Shewa is located at the center of oromia Oromia, connecting the western regions to the eastern ones. This zone is bordered on the south by the West Arsi Zone, on the southwest by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the west by Southwest Shewa Zone and Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, on the northwest by North Shewa, on the north by the Amhara Region, on the northeast by the Afar Region, and on the southeast by Arsi; its westernmost reach is defined by the course of the Bilate River. Towns and cities in East Shewa include Dukam, Galan, Tullu Dimt, Basaqa and Aqaqi, Bishoftu, Metehara, Batu Dambal and Adama. With the intent to rehabilitate degraded forests, the Zonal Agriculture and Rural Development Office announced 2 October 2, 2006, that it had planted over 36.3 million seedlings in 10 of the Zone's 12 woredas, covering 4,000 hectares of land. Gurage is a zone in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. The region is home to the Gurage people. Gurage is bordered on the southeast by Hadiya and Yem Zone, on the northwest by Kebena Special Woreda, north and east by the Oromia Region, and on the southeast by Silt'e. Its highest point is Mount Gurage. Welkite is the administrative centre of the Region; Butajira is the largest city in this zone and the former administrative centre.
Soddo is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. This woreda is named after the Soddo Gurage people. It is Part of the Gurage Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region. Soddo is bordered on the south by Meskane, and on the west, north and east by the Oromia Region. The administrative center of Soddo is Bue; other towns include Kela.
Silti (ስልጢ) is one of the woredas in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. It is named after a subgroup of the Silt'e people, whose homeland includes this woreda. Formerly part of the Gurage Zone, after a referendum held between 18 and 26 April 2001, this woreda became part of the Silt'e Zone. This woreda is bordered on the south by Lanfro and Dalocha, on the southwest by Wulbareg, on the west by Alicho Werero, on the north by the Gurage Zone, and on the east by the Oromia Region. The administrative center of this woreda is Kibet; other towns in Silti include Alkaso, and Werabe. Southwestern part of this woreda was added to Wulbareg woreda.
Enemorina Eaner is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. This woreda is named in part after one of the sub-groups of the Sebat Bet Gurage, the Enemor, who are first mentioned in a list of groups paying tribute to Emperor Yeshaq I, and other sub-group, Eaner. Part of the Gurage Zone, Enemorina Eaner is bordered on the south by the Hadiya Zone, on the southwest by Yem special woreda, on the west by Oromia Region, on the north by Cheha, on the east by Geta, and on the southeast by Endegagn. The administrative center of Enemorina Eaner is Gunchire. Endegagn was separated from this woreda.
Waliso is one of the Aanaas in the Oromia of Ethiopia. It was part of former Walisona Goro Aanaa what was separated for Goro (Aanaa) and Waliso Aanaa and Waliso Town. Part of the Southwest Shewa Zone, it was bordered on the south by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the west by Amaya, on the northwest by Wonchi, on the north by Dawo, on the northeast by Becho and on the east by Saden Soddo. Towns in Waliso include Waliso and Dilala.
Seden Sodo is one of the wereda south west shoa zone found at Oromia Regional state, Ethiopia country. it is bordered on the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, Gedebeno Gutezer Wereda or Gurage zone on the west by weliso, by north by Bacho wereda on the northeast by Tole wereda, and on the east by Kersa Malima. The major town in Seden Sodo is Harbu Chulule.
Nannawa Adama is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Part of the East Shewa Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Adama Zuria is bordered on the south by the Arsi Zone, on the southwest by Koka Reservoir which separates it from Dugda Bora, on the west by Lome, on the north by the Amhara Region, and on the east by Boset; the Awash River, the only important river in this woreda, defines the woreda boundaries on the east and south. Other towns in this woreda include Awash Melkasa, Shewa Alemtena, Sire Robi, Sodere and Wenji Gefersa.
Dugda is a district in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. It was part of the former district of Dugda Bora before being divided into Bora and Dugda. Part of the East Shewa Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Dugda is bordered on the southeast by Hora-Dambal, on the south by Adami Tullu and Jido Kombolcha, on the west by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the northwest by the Southwest Shewa Zone, on the north by the Awash River which separates it from Ada'a Chukala, on the northeast by Koka Reservoir which separates it from Adama, and on the east by the Arsi Zone. The administrative center of Dugda is Meki.
Adami Tullu and Jido Kombolcha is one of the districts in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Part of the East Shewa Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Adami Tullu and Jido Kombolcha is bordered on the south by West Arsi Zone with which it shares the shores of Lakes Abijatta and Langano, on the west by the Silte Zone of Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the north by Dugda Bora, on the northeast by Hora-Dambal, and on the east by the Arsi Zone. The main town of district is Adami Tullu; other towns include Abosa, Bulbulla, and Jido.
Arsi Negele is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It is named after its administrative center, Arsi Negele. Part of the West Arsi Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Arsi Negele is bordered on the south by Naannawa Shashamane and Kofale, on the southwest by Lake Shala which separates it from Shala, on the west by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the north by East Shewa with which it shares the shores of Lakes Abijatta and Langano, and on the east by the Heban Arsi, Qore woreda and small portion by Arsi Zone.
Naannawa Shashamane is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It is named after the town of Shashamene what was separated from this woreda. Part of the West Arsi Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Shashamene is bordered on the south by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the west by Shala, on the north by Arsi Negele, on the east by the Kore, and on the southeast by Kofele. The largest town in Shashamene is Kuyera.

The administrative center of this woreda is Abomsa; other towns in Merti include Reye. Guna woreda was separated from Merti.
Batu Dugda is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Part of the Arsi Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Batu Dugda is bordered on the south by Munesa, on the west and north by the East Shewa Zone, on the east by Hitosa, and on the southeast by Tiyo; also on its western edge is Hora-Dambal, whose area this woreda shares with the East Shewa Zone. The administrative center for this woreda is Ogolcho; other settlements include Chefe Jile, Areta Chufa, Hula Arba and Natile.
