Parliamentary elections were held in Colombia on 14 March 1982 to elect the Senate and Chamber of Representatives. [1] The result was a victory for the Liberal Party, which won 104 of the 199 Chamber seats and 55 of the 114 Senate seats.
The Liberal Party had split shortly before the elections, with a breakaway faction forming New Liberalism.
This election is notable for including the election of Pablo Escobar as a congressman.

Notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar was elected as an alternative member of the Chamber of Representatives as part of the Liberal Party, later joining the Liberal Alternative faction.

The House of Representatives is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Australia, the upper house being the Senate. Its composition and powers are set down in Chapter I of the Constitution of Australia.
César Augusto Gaviria Trujillo is a Colombian economist and politician who served as the President of Colombia from 1990 to 1994, Secretary General of the Organization of American States from 1994 to 2004 and National Director of the Colombian Liberal Party from 2005 to 2009. The Liberal Party was a conservative political party of Brazil, active from 1985 to 2006. The Pentecostal Universal Church of the Kingdom of God heavily influenced the party after 1999. In the 2002 election, José Alencar of the PL was elected vice president as the running mate of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. At the legislative elections on 6 October 2002, the party won 26 out of 513 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and three out of 81 seats in the Senate of Brazil and supported Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's government. Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento was a Colombian liberal politician and journalist who ran for the Presidency of Colombia on two occasions, the first time for the political movement New Liberalism that he founded in 1979. The movement was an offspring of the mainstream Colombian Liberal Party, and with mediation of former Liberal president Julio César Turbay Ayala, Galán returned to the Liberal party in 1989 and sought the nomination for the 1990 presidential election, but was assassinated before the vote took place.

The 1790 United States elections were the first U.S. midterm elections.
