Local elections were held in Taiwan on 1 December 2001 to elect mayors of provincial cities, magistrates of counties, members of county and city councils, and heads of townships and county-administered cities. [1]

Contents

Elections were not held in the special municipalities of Taipei and Kaohsiung until November 2002.

Local elections, commonly known as the "three-in-one elections", were held in Taiwan on December 3, 2005 for magistrates of counties, mayors of provincial cities, members of county and city councils, and heads of townships and county-administered cities. The elections were not held in the special municipalities of Taipei and Kaohsiung.

Chou Hsi-wei Taiwanese politician

Chou Hsi-wei is a former Taipei County magistrate in Taiwan. He was formerly a member of the People's First Party, but switched allegiance to the Kuomintang shortly before the county chief elections. He previously served as a legislator in the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China.

Eric Chu Taiwanese politician

Eric Chu Li-luan is a Taiwanese politician and the incumbent Mayor of New Taipei. He was born into a political family with strong Kuomintang (KMT) ties, and served as Vice Premier of the Republic of China, under Premier Wu Den-yih. Prior to this, Chu served as legislator and as the magistrate of Taoyuan County. He was elected as the first mayor of the newly established city of New Taipei on 27 November 2010. On 17 January 2015, he was elected unopposed as Chairman of the Kuomintang, succeeding Ma Ying-jeou. On 17 October 2015, he was chosen as KMT candidate for the 2016 presidential election replacing incumbent candidate Hung Hsiu-chu. Chu was defeated by his opponent Tsai Ing-wen, and subsequently resigned his post as KMT chairman.

2009 Taiwanese local elections

Local elections, commonly known as the three-in-one elections, were held on Saturday, 5 December 2009, to elect magistrates of counties, mayors of provincial cities, members of county and city councils, and heads of townships and county-administered cities. The elections were not held in the special municipalities of Kaohsiung and Taipei as well as the counties and cities that were set to be reform as special municipalities in 2010, including Taipei County, Taichung County, Taichung City, Tainan County, Tainan City, or Kaohsiung County. The new formed municipalities has their elections in 2010.

The Mayor of Taoyuan is the chief executive of the Taoyuan City Government. Taoyuan City is a special municipality of the Republic of China (Taiwan). It was formerly knows as the magistrate of Taoyuan before 25 December 2014 when Taoyuan was still a county. This list includes directly elected magistrates of the county while it was a county.

Chiu Ching-chun Taiwanese politician

Chiu Ching-chun is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Magistrate of Hsinchu County since 20 December 2009 until 25 December 2018.

John Wu (politician) Taiwanese politician

John Wu or Wu Chih-yang is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Magistrate of Taoyuan County from 2009 to 2014.

Wu Cherng-dean is a Taiwanese politician. As of 2003 and 2006 he was of the New Party of the Republic of China in Taiwan and served as a legislator. In 2003 he and Sisy Chen joined the People First Party (PFP) legislative caucus. By 2007 he was a legislator with the Kuomintang.

The Taiwanese local elections of 2014, commonly known as the nine-in-one elections, were held on Saturday, 29 November 2014, to elect the Municipal Mayors, Municipal Councilors, Chiefs of indigenous districts in municipalities, Councilors of indigenous districts in municipalities, County Magistrates, County (City) Councilors, Township Chiefs, Township Councilors and chiefs of village (borough) in 6 municipalities and 16 counties (cities). Elected officials would serve a four-year term. Polling stations were open from 08:00 to 16:00 on the election day.

Hsu Yao-chang Taiwanese politician

Hsu Yao-chang is a Taiwanese politician. He represented Miaoli County in the Legislative Yuan from 2002 to 2014, when he was elected Magistrate of Miaoli County.

Lin Ming-chen is a politician in the Republic of China. He has been the Magistrate of Nantou County since 25 December 2014.

Lee Chin-yung Taiwan politician

Lee Chin-yung is a Taiwanese politician. He was a member of the Legislative Yuan from 1993 to 1997, when he was elected Mayor of Keelung. Lee remained mayor until 2001. He served as acting Yunlin County magistrate in 2005, and was later served a full term in the office between 2014 and 2018. Following an unsuccessful bid for reelection as Yunlin County magistrate, Lee was appointed chairperson of the Central Election Commission in 2019.
