The men's 1500 metres at the 2016 European Athletics Championships took place at the Olympic Stadium on 7 and 9 July. [1] The gold medal was won by Filip Ingebrigtsen from Norway while David Bustos from Spain won silver and Henrik Ingebrigtsen, older brother of Filip, won bronze medal.

1500 metres foremost middle distance track event in athletics

The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately ​1516 miles.

Filip Ingebrigtsen Norwegian middle-distance runner

Filip Mangen Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian athlete who represents Sandnes Idrettslag. He is among the world's elite in middle distance running, and also competes in terrain racing. In 2016, Filip Ingebrigtsen became European Champion at 1500 meters during the European Championships in Amsterdam, and took bronze at the same distance during the World Championships in 2017 in London. He has the Norwegian 1500 record with time 3:30.01, set at a Diamond League meet in Monaco on July 20, 2018.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen Norwegian middle- and long-distance runner

Jakob Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian middle-distance runner. He won two gold medals at the 2018 European Championships, in the 1500 and 5000 metres events. His older brothers Henrik and Filip are also middle-distance runners who compete internationally. They are trained by their father Gjert Ingebrigtsen.

The men's 1500 metres at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the London Olympic Stadium on 10, 11, and 13 August.
