The local elections in Angeles City, Pampanga were held on May 9, 2022, within the Philippine general election. Registered voters of the city elected candidates for the following elective local posts: mayor, vice mayor, and ten councilors.
There are 205,822 eligible voters in the city for this election. [1] Most of them voted for the incumbent.
Incumbent mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr, of the KAMBALAN party filed his candidacy for a second consecutive term in this election. He was challenged by Amos Rivera of the Aksyon Demokratiko party.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by Vicky Vega, as his running mate. Amos Rivera chose Pie Almerio Juan as his running mate. Lazatin and Rivera were nominated by the parties KAMBILAN and Aksyon Demokratiko, respectively.
The candidates for mayor and vice mayor with the highest number of votes wins the seat; they are voted separately, therefore, they may be of different parties when elected.

Aksyon Demokratiko or simply Aksyon is a political party in the Philippines founded by Raul Roco. It was recognized as a national political party in 1998 by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and is considered to be one of the major parties in the Philippines. Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno currently acts as president of the party.

Carmelo Gurion Lazatin Jr., also known by the Angeleños as Pogi Lazatin, is a Filipino politician and businessman who is serving as the 12th and current City Mayor of Angeles, Pampanga since 2019 and was re-elected for a second term in 2022. Prior to his mayoral tenure, he served as a councilor of Angeles City. He is the son of former Pampanga's First District Representative Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin Sr.
