Local elections were held in Occidental Mindoro on May 9, 2022, as part of the 2022 Philippine general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town mayor, vice mayor, and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, a vice-governor, a governor, and a representative for the province's lone congressional district in the Philippine House of Representatives.
Incumbent governor Eduardo Gadiano of Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) defeated outgoing representative Josephine Sato of the Liberal Party (LP), winning a new second consecutive term. Meanwhile, Diana Apigo-Tayag (PDDS) defeated Eric Constantino (LP) in the vice-gubernatorial race. In the lone congressional district, Odie Tarriela (PDDS) defeated Philip Ramirez (LP). [2]

Lubang, officially the Municipality of Lubang, is a 4th class municipality in the province of Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 17,437 people.

Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan is a national political party in the Philippines accredited by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on October 30, 2018. It was founded by Presidential Anti-Corruption (PACC) Chairman Greco Belgica. He says that the members are the original followers of Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 presidential election. The main thrust of the party is for federalism to be applied to the Philippines. The party sought accreditation from the Commission on Elections so that it can run candidates for the 2019 midterm election.
Occidental Mindoro's at-large congressional district is the sole congressional district of the Philippines in the province of Occidental Mindoro. Also known as Occidental Mindoro's lone district, it has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1952. It first elected a representative provincewide at-large for the 2nd Congress of the Third Philippine Republic following the dissolution of the old Mindoro province under Republic Act No. 505 on June 13, 1950. It has remained a single-member district even under the Fourth Philippine Republic parliament known as the Regular Batasang Pambansa from 1984 to 1986.
