The 2023 Columbus Crew season was the club's twenty-eighth season of existence and their twenty-eighth consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of soccer in the United States. The first match of the season was on February 25 against the Philadelphia Union. It was the first season under head coach Wilfried Nancy.

The Crew won the MLS Cup against Los Angeles FC, their third league championship and second since 2020. [2]

The 2020 Inter Miami CF season was the first season in the history of Inter Miami CF and the 17th season of first-division club soccer in South Florida. It was the first time since 2001 that a South Florida club competed in the first-division. The 2021 FC Cincinnati season was the club's third season in MLS, and the sixth season of a team playing under the FC Cincinnati brand after three years in the lower-division USL Championship. The club finished with a league worst 4–15–4 record in their second MLS season in 2020, one shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic in Ohio. The season was the first year that FC Cincinnati played home matches at newly built TQL Stadium.

The 2021 Seattle Sounders FC season was the club's thirty-eighth year of existence, and their thirteenth season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. The team was under the management of Brian Schmetzer in his fifth full MLS season as head coach of the Sounders. Seattle were the reigning Western Conference champions and lost to Columbus Crew SC in the MLS Cup 3–0.

The 2021 Philadelphia Union season was the club's twelfth season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. The team is managed by Jim Curtin, his eighth season with the club. The club's regular season began on April 7, 2021, with the CONCACAF Champions League, and then on April 17, 2021, with MLS play, and ended on November 7, 2021, a month-delayed start due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Outside of MLS, the Union, by winning the 2020 Supporters' Shield, is competing in their first ever CONCACAF Champions League.

The 2022 Charlotte FC season was the club's first season in Major League Soccer, the top division of soccer in the United States. The team was coached by Miguel Ángel Ramírez until he was fired on May 31. Assistant coach Christian Lattanzio was promoted to interim head coach.

The 2022 Inter Miami CF season was the third season in the history of Inter Miami CF and the 19th season of first-division club soccer in South Florida. In addition to playing in Major League Soccer, the club participated in the U.S. Open Cup, the first cup competition in club history.

The 2023 Toronto FC season was the 17th season in the history of Toronto FC.

The 2023 Inter Miami CF season was the fourth season in the history of Inter Miami CF and the 20th season of first-division club soccer in South Florida. In addition to playing in Major League Soccer, the club participated in the U.S. Open Cup and the new-look Leagues Cup for the first time.

On October 6, the club fired Technical Director Mark Watson and Head Coach Adrian Heath.

The club entered 2024 as the defending Supporters' Shield winners, the award given to the team that finishes with the most points in the regular season.

The 2024 Columbus Crew season will be the club's twenty-ninth season of existence and their twenty-ninth consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of soccer in the United States. It will be the second season under head coach Wilfried Nancy. The Crew will be defending MLS Cup champions, having won the 2023 MLS Cup against Los Angeles FC. On December 20, 2023, MLS released its schedule, with Columbus playing its opening match of the season against Atlanta United FC at home on February 24.
