Abdul Qadir Alam was the governor of Ghor Province, Afghanistan from 2004 to 2005. He was the second governor of the province after the fall of the Taliban.

Baz Mohammad Ahmadi (Ahmady) is the Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics and the former Governor of Badakhshan, in Afghanistan. He used to be Governor of Ghor Province. Ahmadi is an ethnic Tajik and was a mid-level commander in the Jamiat Islami military alliance under Ahmed Shah Massoud that fought in the civil wars that dominated Afghanistan after the withdrawal of Soviet occupation forces in the early 1990s. After the American-led invasion of 2001, Ahmadi became a high-ranking Afghan defense department functionary, including a posting as Ismail Khan's replacement as military commander of Herat Province.

Ibrahim Malikzada Afghan politician

Mohammad Ibrahim Malikzada was an Afghan politician and military commander. He was the first Governor of Ghor after the defeat of the Taliban in 2001. Malikzada completed elementary education in Ghor province. During Jihad, in 1960s, he continued his Science and Islamic education and he acquired expertise in Medicine from (ICC). He was involved in the health services according to the needs of the region until the Fall of 1981, after Mohammad Taher Malikzada, his elder brother was martyred. From that point on, Mohammad Ibrahim Malikzada took the military responsibility. Although he was not a military officer, he turned into a fully-fledged inclusive militant. The terrible wars of the region fueled by the totalitarians forced him to respond vigorously to the Taliban attacks after 1979. After, Ahmad Shah Massoud, he was the only figure in all the provinces of Southern and Western Afghanistan continuing his resistance. After the fall of Taliban in 2001, he served as the governor of Ghor province. In the first parliamentary elections in Afghanistan, he was elected as a member of a House of People for the Ghor province.

Amīr Krōṛ Sūrī, also known as Jahan Pahlawan, is a legendary character in Pashtun national history and is claimed to have become the governor of Mandesh in Ghor. Amir Kror Suri is considered to be the first poet of Pashto language. He is not to be confused with Amir Suri, the pagan king of Ghor in the 9th-10th century.

Sayed Anwar Rahmati Hazara politician in Afghanistan

Anwar Rahmati is an ethnic Hazara politician in Afghanistan. He is the current governor of Daykundi province he appointed as the new governor of Daykundi inplace of Mahmoud Baligh in November 22, 2018. Previously he served as Governor of Sar-e Pol from May 25, 2010 to April 3, 2012 and as Governor of Ghor from August 27, 2012 to June 27, 2015. Between 2004 and 2010 he was Chief of staff to Karim Khalili.

The Persian Empire's province of Sistan in the 7th century extended from the modern Iranian province of Sistan to central Afghanistan and Baluchistan province of Pakistan. Sistan was captured during the reign of Caliph Umar, and like other provinces of the Persian Empire it also broke into revolt during Uthmans reign in 649. Uthman directed the governor of Busra, Abdullah ibn Aamir to re-conquer the province. A column was sent to Sistan under the command of Rabeah ibn Ziyad. He re-conquered it up to what is now Zaranj in Afghanistan. Rabeah ibn Ziyad was made governor of Sistan. He remained there for years, then he left for Busra, and the province again broke into revolt in a larger area.

Seema Jowenda is an Afghan politician who is deputy governor of Kabul Province and was previously governor of Ghor province. As of November 2015, she was one of only two women to hold the position of provincial governor in the country. She replaced Sayed Anwar Rahmati in the job.
