Mohammad Amam Hamimi is a former Governor of Logar Province in Afghanistan. He was governor from 10 March 2004 [1] to December 2005. [2] He was succeeded by Abdul Karim Matin as Ghazni governor in 2016.

He was one of the prominent commanders of Jamiat-e Islami during the 1980s Soviet–Afghan War. He was amongst the earliest generation of anti-soviet fighters from Kabul University, which included Amin Wardak, Zabihullah of Marmul in Balkh and Ahmad Shah Massoud.

Baraki Barak District District in Logar Province, Afghanistan

Baraki Barak District is situated in the western part of Logar Province, Afghanistan. It borders Wardak Province to the west and northwest, Puli Alam District to the north and east and Kharwar and Charkh districts to the south. The district's population is around 101,000(2006) with a majority of over 90% Tajiks. The district center is the town of Baraki Barak - the former provincial capital, located in the northern part of the district in the valley of the Logar River. Baraki Rajan is another important town of this district which lies 4 km away from district center. The district is named after the historical Ormur tribe, also locally known as Baraki.

Niam Kuchi is a citizen of Afghanistan who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 931. Joint Task Force Guantanamo estimate that he was born in 1940 in Logar, Afghanistan.

Fidai is an independent politician, and when first appointed governor of Wardak in 2008 he was the youngest of the 34 governors of Afghanistan.

2011 Logar province bombing

The 25 June 2011 Logar province bombing was a suicide car bombing that occurred on 25 June 2011 in Azra District, Logar Province, Afghanistan targeting Akbar Khail hospital, a 10-bed facility near the Pakistani border, killing at least 43 people, including children, pregnant women, and medical staff. The suicide bomber drove a sport utility vehicle through the front gate of the facility, striking a guard, before detonating his explosives. The blast destroyed the one-story hospital and buried people under the rubble. The Taliban denied responsibility for the attack, claiming the perpetrator to be "someone with an agenda," possibly the Haqqani network.
