Paktika is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan, located in the eastern part of the country. Mohammad Halim Fidai is an Afghan politician, civil society activist and a prominent journalist. He was a Governor of Paktia Province beginning in July 2020, and was previously governor of Khost, Logar, and Wardak. Fidai is an independent politician, and when first appointed governor of Wardak in 2008 he was the youngest of the 34 governors of Afghanistan.

Paktia University is a public higher education institution in Gardez, Afghanistan. Its current chancellor is Dr. Sayed Wali Jalalzai. According to him, approximately 8,500 students are enrolled in Paktia University. Majority are male students. There are approximately 145 professors. The university's acceptance rate was reported at 55%.

Dand Aw Patan District is located in the northeastern section of Paktia Province in Afghanistan. It has a population of around 30,551 local residents. The district is within the heartland of the Zazi tribe of Pashtuns.

Haji Mali Khan is an Afghan Taliban politician, and former military commander. Khan has served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces since 4 March 2022. From 7 November 2021 to 14 March 2022, he served as governor of Logar Province. Prior to his governmental service, he was considered one of the leaders of the Haqqani network, a "semi-autonomous" offshoot of the Taliban.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Paktia Super Kings</span> Afghan professional Twenty20 cricket franchise team

The Paktia Super Kings, formerly known as the Paktia Panthers, is an Afghan professional Twenty20 cricket franchise team that competes in the Afghanistan Premier League. The team is based in Khost, the provincial capital of Khost Province and the largest city of Loya Paktia region, Afghanistan. The team was formed in 2018, as a result of the formation of the Afghanistan Premier League by Afghanistan Cricket Board. The team is currently captained by Shahid Afridi, and coached by Dawlat Ahmadzai, a former member of the Afghanistan national cricket team. Shahid Afridi is the icon player of the franchise.
